Cometic High Compression Gasket

I've been in discussion with the folks at Cometic in regards to making a high compression gasket for our 4G69 motor. So far the conversations have been positive.

Lots of details on the power benefits of these gaskets can be found across the interwebs.

Lanzer is donating his extra OEM head gasket as template (thank you sir). Cometic will be using that as a template. Once they do their wizardy math hopefully we have a gasket that pushes us into the 10.2:1 CR and safely seals like the OEM gasket.

Stay tuned.

I never had an issue when i had 10.5:1 pistons in the car with stock head gasket. Not saying anyone else would not have any issues but i never did but i also installed head studs..

Gonna be trying the reverse, stock pistons with high comp gasket. You can't achieve as much CR bump in this method but it's a hell of alot cheaper.

I do not know the thickness of the OEM MLS gasket yet. I've read anywhere from .030 to .051. The OEM head gasket is en route to Cometic tomorrow. Once they recieve it I will follow up with them for more prototyping discussions.

any word on this yet as I am in need of a new gasket - if they can raise the compression by just the smallest amount then I am in...

your best choist would be a aftermarket gasket like TAKOMA or any oder brand. there would be thinner than the OEM.

Crap,

I should up date this. Lanzer has shipped the gasket (with enough postage this time) off to Cometic. I will update once they've received. I would not be surprised if they require a group buy of some sort. Just want to set the proper expectation.

next season will be just testing the turbo build, getting it working, so 2 years from now i'll be looking at lower compression, bottom end build, and more boost.

Stock head gasket is in the Cometic's hands as of today. It's off to their Engineering department for analysis. Stay tuned.
