clutch master cylinder

hey guys,

I've been having this problem for a while now, the seal in the clutch master keeps blowing and i lose pressure in my clutch pedal, i am using a ACT stage 1 clutch and my tranny is brand new(replaced under warranty)

i have gotten the clutch master(OEM) replaced about 3 times now, and each time it wouldnt last more then 2/3 days, i dont ride my clutch but for some reason it keeps blowing.

no one can figure out what's going on?

any suggestions?

one of my friends tells me i should change to an evo clutch master cause of the excessive pressure from the new clutch, but i've had the new clutch in for more then 6 months, before the issue started.

your friend is right , you need an evo 8-9 cmc to hold the pressure , it's on my list as well

i haven't had any problems yet?

what other clutch mods have you done? did you notice any unusual sounds, or feeling in the clutch? i find it strange that your original CMC lasted 6 months, and 2 brand new ones fail within days..

ya i know it's been very weird.. all i know is cause of the higher pressure from the ACT clutch it's blowing out the seal in the CMC

CMC's for our cars fail with aftermarket pressure plates. The fix is either get an evo CMC or a DIY fix on the RA CMC that wont make it break. If you have aftermarket pressure plate its a matter of time before your seal broken...trust me

have you guys removed the "modulator"? or as the manual calls it, the "CLUTCH ORIFICE ASSEMBLY"

no i was wondering if your clutch control lines are all stock, or if you have an aftermarket clutch line...the aftermarket clutch line bypasses the modulator.

Hey Cranswick did you gut your clutch modulator or buy a clutch line ?
Regardless, what was the difference from stock ?

i did not remove mine...does it not act like an accumulator? i'm not sure what it's purpose is, exactly, but if it is an accumulator of sorts it would be aiding in distributing hydraulic pressure, easing the load on the cylinders. If that's the case, then it would be wise to leave there, the clutch is plenty stiff, and engages and disengages just fine.

Buy a clutch line or replace your stock with a braided steel line.. Ive had mine for under 6months now with no issues. Maybe later on the road i may replace it with the evo cmc but not until it goes.

Isnt the clutch modulator there as a "fool proof" precaution to ease things when dumping the clutch?

Also ive seen the CMC break even with braided clutch lines. When i replaced my clutch I got an ACT 50/50 clutch but stayed with OEM pressure plate which is a DAIKIN plate which is not so bad, did this to avoid breaking the CMC. OEM clutch is EXEDY (~70/30) and pressure plate is DAIKIN.

The DIY consists blocking the hole on the CMC with a screw or something to block the path so theres no leakage and the pressure is not affected
