a swap

I am wondering if I could swap out this stupid app sensor crap for just a regular throttle set like on the eclipse or something similar .. if any ones knows if this possible and could provide me with any info that would be awesome.

if you found a throttle body that fits, and just run the cable to that, but then you would probably have to reprogram or fool the ECU...cause there would be some signals missing.

I don't know anyone that's done, it, but it's probably possible...it's just a throttle body, closed is idle, and open means go, there's no magic, it's just getting the ECU on board that might be tricky.

What problems are you having with your APPS?

its shot no more life I have done every thing suggested to get a bit more life out of it. ie.. clean undo battery. and unplug ecu and nothing worked. although I am thinking of doing a build on it since the timing belt is due and winter is coming up.. not sure just tired of the issues with this.car

If you mean getting rid of the RA electronically controlled throttle? Then no

You would need to do some customizing and buy a stand alone ECU to do that

True. Mitsubishiparts got me the same part for about 188 like crans said. I check them before I ever think about going to a dealership. They jack up the prices on everything. :-/

That is an interesting idea on swapping the throttle body to cut out the APS. I dont really know why they used that system in the first place. It just seems like another piece added to the puzzle thats going to fail. Youd think they would have cut that out when designing the engine, and just left the old style. Oh well.
