06 RA Mileage

Hey,

I am about to purchase a 2006 RA with 200,000 km (125,000 miles) on it. It seems like it's in good condition, with a manual gearbox, and overall seems good.

My question is whether 200,000 km is a lot for this car? Would it keep running for a while still?
Or should I avoid this one?

Cheers

It all depends on the maintenance of those previous 125,000 miles. If all the required services were done, then 125,000 isn't too bad and could have a lot of life left. If the car has not been maintained then you could be looking at a tired engine. See what service has been done on the car and go from there.

Basically what he said, I own a 2006 with 117k on it (bought with 60k). If it's been well maintained then it will still keep going. Mine is running strong I also suggest to make sure the belt maintenance was done, I know at 100k my belts were due, so make sure they were done!

Hey,

thanks for the tips.

I am about to buy it for $8500, keep in mind this is in Canada, where we generally pay more for cars than in the US.

It's is a bit modified, with painted rims, intake, and new exhaust. Also, I am getting two sets of tires on rims (winter's on stealies).

Is this too high?
What should be the price of a car like this?

Cheers.

Hmmm....I'm not sure how much more you guys normally pay but I found a yellow one that's going for 6,500 with only 70,000 miles on it. Granted its a 2004 though. Just different front end then the 06 and the ECU is different. I don't know if you guys use kellybluebook but it states 8,600 from a dealer if its in excellent condition. I paid 10,000 for mine 3 years ago, which at the time this was 3,000 under KBB value so I just had to bite on that...You should try and knock them down a little bit

waaaaaaay too much for that mileage...i saw one in ottawa with less km's and it was under $5,000....mine is about to hit the 200,000km mark, but i've done a lot of work to it...all but the block itself, still seems pretty strong though...i would offer them 6K tops...

intake and exhaust i would not consider mods, and painted wheels should bring the price down...i would ask for the full service history, and if it can't be verified then it's not worth $4k cause it could be sitting there needing over 3 grand in service.

Thanks again,

I took it to a mechanic, it had a lot of little defects, which had potential to become major problems quite soon.
I decided to pass it, and keep searching for a lower mileage Lancer (ideally a Ralliart).

less than 200k still, and that stink is just a small coolant leak from the temperature sensor, no biggie
