No power steering! FML

Well I was driving last night, pulled into a parking lot and BAM! no power steering. Battery and ebrake light go on....... sure enough, belt is looser than Jenna Jameson.

So im going to assume belt tensioner. $165+ tax at mitsu... $155+ at Napa. Will be here tomorrow AM.

So i've done the belt before when i had my UDP on...easy as hell. How bad is the actual tensioner to do? Mitsu said 3hours for them....I laughed in his face. Mainly because they say 2 hours for the belt it self which took me half hour.

So they are telling me that its not part of the powertrain warranty?? how the hell does that make sense?? its on the motor!!! belt i can understand...but come on! my 5 year bumper to bumper ended in Feb

Ya it was, they were a PITA to deal with when my shifter linkage was binding.

Its sitting in kingston... and they wouldnt tow it because its "not a warranty issue"....so im going to be doing it in my gf's parking lot tomorrow AM.

So gotta jam all my tools and jack into her little Accent and bring them back to kingston to do it.

Unless you have a flat bed handy? haha

Tensioner = 2 bolts, very easy. Will take 5 minutes longer than a belt change by itself.

the tensioner isnt bad. just a little of a PITA since to get to the bolt you got to have like small hands or something

Damn how did that happen? Must be the salt huh? You can drill it out but make sure you are perfectly straight or you can use a reverse drill bit meaning that it only cuts going in reverse

No idea how it happened....
I pop the wheel off and saw the bolt sticking out an inch, so I'm thinking sweet! It just unthreaded itself. Pop it off and saw that....I've never tried to loosten that bolt and its never been off since new... Bolts are still lubed up and look mint so it wasn't rust.

But how the **** does a bolt on a stationary part sheer like that?? And of course 6k after my bumper to bumper warranty.

I'm gonna call the dealer and see if they can cover it because its technically a bolt IN the motor now...lol. And if not... Left handed drill bit should be able to unthread it... SHOULD.

I even offered to bring them a bolt so they don't have to order it and wait and they said no.

Off to pricess auto I go... Then to fastenal to get a bolt once I figure out how long it is.
