I havent Changed mine yet.. But I talked to Metro Mitsu in Philly today and they said that their filters have a Check valve in them that keeps the Lifters from draining thus eliminating lifter tick(Hydraulic Lifters). On that note.. K&N has Oil Filters with Check Valves in them too.. Personally I use the K&N oil Filters with RedLine Synthetic. It will be due in another 900 Miles or so.. Thats when all the Fluids are Gonna start getting changed over to RedLine. And they said that the oil or Filter I use wont Void the Warranty. They would have to go to Great lengths to prove that it did ,Thats how warranty's get voided. The Dealership has to prove beyond a shadow of the doubt that what they want to void your warranty over is what caused the car to break.

I've changed mine twice and I'm using Motul, 5 W 30 I believe. It's a good choice, I like it.

I would have to say that Mobil1 is one of the cleanest oils I've ever used. In my '93 Talon, I switched to synthetic after 80k miles (couldn't afford it until then), and used mobil1 from about 100k until now (230k).

When I made the switch, you could look down through the oil filler hole and see nasty brown deposits in the head. At 230k miles, the inside of the head looks brand new. Not only did Mobil1 not put any more deposits in there, it cleaned up all the crap the conventional oil left behind.

I used 10W-40 Redline with a K&N oil filter for the highest flow possible. (Have RRM Stage 2 turbo.) For those that use Royal Purple, what weight oil were you using in motor? Was it turboed? I am using 75W-90 Royal Purple in my manual transmission right now...I like it though my LSD still slips some....

Any LSD will slip some. It has to, otherwise you'd be hopping around corners in parking lots, and putting a lot of stress on your axles and differential.

An LSD is only supposed to keep you from doing a long, smoky, one-wheel burnout.

Since I made the gradual switch to Castrol SYntec, I love it more than anything I've ever done to my car maintenience wise. Good reliable protection at a great price for the oil. Mobile 1 just seemed a little expensive when it seemed to me to be very close to the same thing.

Wow

WOW, I am going to use this Mobil 1 00w20 every single winter. I did my oil change yesterday from the 10w20 and went from a 10 minute warm up to a 3 minute warm up. I'm happy with it. BTW, do you think I should switch back to the 5w20 or the 10w20 after winter time?

Has anyone used Amsoil in their Mitsu??? According to their web site they recommend...WTF!!!... 25k oil changes or twice a year??? (I can get a box for $65 from a friend that works with the local distributor)

http://www.amsoil.com/products/asl.html

Also they claim better performance than Mobil1:

I don't care what they claim, I'd never let my car go that long without an oil change, and the warranty people wouldn't approve of it, either. IMO, 7500 is the longest you should go.

The dealer can only deny a warranty claim for oil if they prove it was faulty. As long as the oil is sampled regularly, you can use it over and over as long as the sample deems so....

Personally i use Royal Purple, and nothing else, i think the hype with Mobile 1 is just that HYPE, i say use the brand you like and not what advertisers say you should use.Just my 2 cents
