B&M Short Shifter

Can anyone.....100% definitely tell me which exact model will fit in the 2004 Ralliart? I know that the EVO shifter comes in the Ralliart.... but when we're ordering the part number or style which one is it? which year and model number is it.... from B&M? ....someone even told me it's the Rally OZ's but I think that would be the same one that already come's in the Ralliart. Get back to me only if you know for sure....

I think I found the answer...... I think the short shifter that works for our 04 Ralliarts is the B&M EVO 96-03 Part #45100. After consulting some long distance phone calls we think this is the one..... This actually fits the regular US lancers and the Eclipse.... Any way my wholesaler has this in stock and I will be installing this in my Ralliart Tomorrow. Hopefully this is the right part...... I'll post it when I find out if it fits or not....... Hopefully it's not a waste of an hour labour.

I ordered a B&M Short shifter from RRM and it cam today when I opened the box there was no shift knob. I called RRM and they said that they got them from B&M and with no knobs in any of the boxes. So I called B&M and they told me they quit selling the kits with knobs in them like 5 moths ago. So that sucks they still have a picture of the knob on the box. I like the stock knob anyways, I am going to put it on today or tomorrow I need to get a hex key big enough to fit the bolt.

Yeah I need to get the plastic piece from the dealership to get it to work. I like how they put it down as optional equipent, because unless you want to but you're old shifter in half to reuse the plasic piece you have to go buy a new one.

Put simply, any shifter made for the EvoVIII will fit the Ralliart. When shopping for shifters, pretend you own an Evo, and you'll find stuff that fits, and you'll be happy in your fantasy world with your Evo.

I saw a install, for the evo and it looked like you had to cut something to get it to work. Is that the case with the ralli art?

you only need to cut part of the base if you get the B&m adjustable shifter. This is the one I have and it cuts the throw in half, and because the bottom of the shifter moves so much to get you a shorter throw, you will have to cut a notch. see the install guide, very easy.

thanks I have the b&m one but it does not have the mounts like the one in the guide, I bought energy bushings and changed them myself, its the kit that comes from RRM. So do I still need to cut the base? I ordered the other part today and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. Did you notice any change in the way the spring flet? Mine is not a bouncy when i pop it out of gear in to neutral. It used to like spring out and now it just kind of sticks. I am not sure if I have the spring on backwards I tried it both ways but neither felt the same as it did before i messed with it.

thanks

nick,

you only have to cut the base if you have the adjustable shifter. it comes with the bushings for tha base also. If you got it from RRM, its not the adjustable version and you DO NOT need to cut the base. As far as your issue with the spring tension I thing you probably have over tightened it. its ony like 14-20ft lbs. Also if you put alot of grease arround the pivot ball this will get looser after a week or so. The sping you are taking about is only for the side to side motion of the shifter, so I bet its too tight or lots of grease. let me know.

Thanks eric
okay i think i over thightened it I will losen it up when i put on the new shifter, I have not added any extra grease yet because I still have not been ablt to get the new shorter one on their. How do you like the adjustable one? Is there a big difference between that one and the one I have? I had no idea there was more than one model available

yeah its really good, the shifter you have is about a 25% reduciton, mine is 50%. the shifter moves back ond forth about3 to 4 inches and about the same side to side. VERY short. The only down side is that it make the shifting quite a bit more notchy, the reduction in throw makes the internal parts move very fast...I don't think the parts like this took much. but i do like it a lot, along with the base shifter bushings and the speed source underhood buchings, VERY good combo
