since our exhaust is designed well as-is, what about just switching the muffler? ive been looking at one of the universal Borla mufflers and would like to initiate this hopefully some time in January, but what do you guys think? I love the sound of the RA, but I want it to be just a little louder

evo exhaust to my knowledge does not fit, but regular 2.0L lancer cat-backs may not be bolt on, but should be close, their forward exhaust system pre-cat is different though...that's why i would recommend a new mid-pipe and axle back exhaust (muffler and tip) and just have a good muffler shop do it...our stock exhaust is pretty good for N/A...
I guess I should just call a shop and see what they got. I've heard lots about Noyzboyz, just checked their page and they are advertising $499 for a stainless catback system, installed http://www.noyzboyz.com/. Though as you and others say, our systems are great. I should just get a muffler, it would be the cheapest route.

no there not even close, and you cant find a site that lists really anything for our cars, i think andysautosports.com ahs a good lsit but you better off going into an overdriveautomotive, or something to buy it

the 2.0l ones do fit, i have a magnaflow from an oz on my RA, u need to cut an inch off the midpipe cause the oz cat is smaller, and you will need to weld an 02 nut for out 02 sensor after the cat, but they do fit really nicly,

I thought about it over night, definitely going to see what noyzboyz can do. After listening to a ton of exhausts on youtube I think you got it right crans, axleback. I did hear some nice catbacks though the axelback definitely was quieter. Thanks a ton for the suggestions guys.

Ive been wanting to redo my exhaust as well. I couldnt remember though, what was the recommended diameter of the piping? I think stock is 2 in. But I remember reading somewhere that either 2.25 or 2.5 in. was ideal for an N/A engine. Anyone remember which?

Ive been debating whether to get a header or find a stock one and slightly modify it. I know the stock one is suppose to be one of the best already but it just looks so crammed together...

I remember Ralliartizeit saying something along the lines of the evo cat backs being compatible. He has both an evo and ralliart so he can help with that if you ask nicely , I'm sure. I'll get him to chime in.

I took a caliper to it last time I was under the car it was slightly bigger than 2" which I assumed was because of the thickness of the metal so that'd make the inside diameter 2".

I called noyzboyz and they quoted me $300-$350 for a magnaflow axleback muffler, midpipe and tip. They suggesting going in to see all the options so I think I'll take a trip to their shop this weekend. They also mentioned having used mufflers so I could end up with something around $200.

Will chime in. Buy the Evo stock catback for about 150. Take another 150 and have it modified to fit the RA chassis. It's pretty damn close as it stands to fitting. It's 2 3/8 ID and has two resonators and stock muffler that's good for 250+ whp.

You really can't beat that...oh don't forget that it's OEM quality.

I went to my muffler shop a couple months back and had a nice stainless Magnaflow installed for $175. It sounds nice and deep and was very cheap.

Dude, I wish our shops up here in Canada were that cheap, $175 would be the sweet spot price. Which one did you get?

trust me johnny, if you just want a nice sounding car, go do it Garrett's way as i've driven around in his car and it sounds really nice especially when the turbo kicks in LOL

unless your exhaust system is clogged/rusted/deteriorating then i guess you should replace it

try tapping on your exhaust and see if you here anything shaking inside.

look around on Kijiji if you can find some there bc that's what i did and i found some sweet deals but they're just too damn far away from me

still worth a try though so good luck!

also, i'll ask my mechanic if he can hook a brother up. i will let you know asap

Yeah I made my decision to not buy a full system. Just going to get a muffler and tip.
