rrm stage 2 cams

im thinking of getting an RRM stage 2 cam found a used one for good price. im wondering if the stage 2 needs springs and a tune in order to run?

i also jsut picked up an RRM piggyback and the timing box so would that be suffecient if it did need a tune? or would i have to sell those and get the hackish flash?

thanks guys any help or links would be good

There were problems with the rrm cam which is why they stopped making them. I'd pass on the offer but it's your car. You won't need anything else for the install, just some patience, feeler gauge and basic tools.

The piggy and timing box will work but tuning with it isn't the easiest, unless you find a shop that is familiar with it.

what problems? or link me to an existing one, and id probably leave the piggy and T box with the tune they have on them if i did and then switch to hackish flash next year.
thanks for the quick pm aswell

whats your guys opinions on the piggyback and Tbox ive been told by a knowledgeable person that it has potential to damage the engine because it adds timing and fuel when our engine really needs less.

I'll see what I can find but it was kinda " hush hush ".

As for the timing box , I remember Dacib had it , he said there was a noticeable change he didn't say anything negative about it. His car was still running problem free when he traded it in sometime later.

Like I said its was a spirt of the moment thing I bet no more than 50 were ever sold, probably only a handful were in this forum, and all of them have traded up, sold the cam, or just aren't very active here. The cam isn't going to be a miracle worker, the supporting mods and tune will make the changes more pronounced.

I thought there would've been more than that. Im not sure how many of us are left that still have the cam. The torque with the stage 2 feels nice. I'm not sure on the negative parts of the cam unless he's talking about swapping over to turbo then thats where tuning problems came up but otherwise for an NA car it seems to work just fine?

in theory it SHOULD work with the stock head w/o a tune... you just wont get full performance out of it.

the cam was one of the last things that was put on my car so idk how it would act with a stock head. i have the p/p head from rrm as well as timing/piggy so i cant say how it would be w/o a tune

The rrm head uses all oem parts so the cam would be fine. And I remember it not being an issue the cam wasn't very aggressive like everything else RRMs sells they wanted it to be useful on a stock platform.

Everything Raikiri said, plus Lanzer's comments is about as much as I've gathered on the cam.

I've heard problems did arise when the car was boosting using the stage 2 cam, but never found out what those were.

Shouldn't have any issues with the stock head and an NA platform.
