What kind of spark plug wires does the RA have?
Im thinking about changing my spark plug wires to NGK spark plugs. I heard that some mitsubishi cars already come with these, but im not sure about the RA. Can anybody tell me which ones the RA already has and also what changing the wires can help me with please. Thanks
Anyone know if nology are making a HOTWIRES setup for it. The RSX has the same system as us and they made a setup for them that actually made gains....only a couple hp mind you...but gains still.
For people who are running a completely NA car the NGK (or any other good brand like Denso) Irridium's are best. However, if your running Turbo or N2o you may want to take a look into a cooler plug. I know w/ n2o for sure you have to run a cooler one...i'm sure w/ turbo there are some other variables.

I have recently hit 15,000 miles in my MIVEC. I want to change the plugs to a performance plug. Has anyone changed their plugs yet? Is it a tough process to change out the plug. I know each plug has its own coil. Do i have to pull the coil off to get access to the plug?

As for performance plugs, the RA comes with NGK iridium plugs from the factory, and you can't get much better plugs than that. Just inspect your plugs and make sure they're still in good working order.
Just for useful info:
Spark plugs part number - LZFR6AI
Gap - 0.028-0.031 inch; 0.7-0.8mm
Torque to 18 ft/lbs; 25 Nm
Remember, never try to re-gap an iridium or platinum plug

only thing that might be better is the denso plug. They have a smaller electrode then the NGK witch will just create a finer more consistant spark. Theres no point on changing out what you have for a long time. the NGK iriduims will last forever and they also run from $10 to $14 ea. I haven't looked at the engine myself but some engines with coil packs have a 2 wire system. wires will be like 4 inches long if you ever have them. theres not much really you can do about upgrading as it is the better system for spark you can have.
hey guys i have a quick question. I changed my plugs a while back with autozones matching plugs to my car(forget what brand) and today i was checkin there condition and there gapped to about .043! im planning on changing back to the ngk's actuall one for my car....but do my current plugs pose a risk to my engine or preformance? any imput thanks
Yes, that large of a gap can cause idle issues, will eventually make your car stall out while driving. Re-gap them (unless they're Iridium plugs, which it doesn't sound like) to the correct gap if you aren't replacing them.

+1 had the same issue with my car as I recently changed out the plugs, didn't think to check the gap, but soon after I notice the engine would shutter while idle until yesterday it completely stall, changed back to my originals and the idle issues went away....
