Cracked flywheel?

Driving home from Texas to California all is good. Stopped at the Arizona border for fuel and didn't realize until after I filled my tank that it was 85 octane. 5 miles down the freeway cruising at 75 I get an engine hesitation for a split second. Another 5 miles later another split second hesitation. Felt like hitting governor at high speed. So 10 miles from home I stop to get a slushy. Com out of the 7-11 and fire up the car to an immediate loud knocking sound. Pop the hood see nothing obvious so I limp it home. GED home pull the valve cover, do a lash adjustment, check compression, do a leak down test, do an oil pressure test and can't figure out the problem. Mechanic comes over and it turns out I cracked whatever the darn piece of metal that sits on the fly wheel, between the fly and the inspection cover. My question is what's the darn thing called???
Happy to post a pic if someone can tell me how to do it via my phone. Thanks guys and gals.

It's underneath right next to the cross brace on the frame. It's a silver aluminum cover.

Im thinking that is your torque converter. But I was under the impression that those were filled with oil, or are suppose to be... I'm uploading a diagram now you will hopefully be able to see if we are looking at the same thing.

Here it is:

Im thinking it has to be the Torque Converter now. In your picture there is a notch next to a drop on the right where a bolt goes. In the Diagram there is that same bolt hole and notch at the bottom of the torque converter housing.

It looks to me like the plate that's cracked bolts over the torque converter as a separate piece. Am I mistaken?

I was thinking it was a flex plate also but a google search result doesn't turn up any info for a 2006 lancer ralliart flex plate. I need to obviously replace the part but I can't find one. No go at autozone or anywhere else I've tried. Do I need to replace the entire assembly?

you have to remove the trans and take a look. hopefully it's just the plate like in the link that needs to be replaced. call a local trans shop or the dealer.
