Question Rev question..

Howcome when I put my car in first, push in the clutch, and rev my car will rev to about 5.5 when I hammer the gas and then it tends to die off like it doesn't want to rev past that? I dunno, maybe I'm just a newbie but I can't recall it doing that before?

I have noticed this a little bit, it may be that they have a lower rev limit in first gear than in other gears. But I have also redlined my car in first one time, so I know it will go that high. It was on accident though because I wasn't paying attention.

Well anytime I race or rev that high driving it goes to the max just fine. But if I'm sitting in place and I rev it goes to about 5.5 and then won't allow me to rev any higher. That's what my question was

It's good to know that mitsu. put a rev-limit 5.5K in the engine while the cluth is engaged this will help protect the engine in case of mis-shifts or someone trying to bang the rev-limit at 6.5K for dumping launches..Its a fail safe..

I read something in the manual (page 3-29) that it wont allow the engine to go past 5000rpm until it's reached a safe tempature.
