2005 Ralliart timing belt issue
2005 Ralliart timing belt issue
Hey guys need any help if anyone has had the same experience..so the car has been down for 3 weeks already. when the car broke down my timing belt snapped at around 10mph and the car died.my first reaction was to crank the ignition again but no luck. the car has 199,xxx miles I replaced the timing belt and the starter and the car dosent start-any suggestions because im lost.any help is big help..thanks
What '06 said. If you have no compression something else is wrong.
Did you have to replace any valves after the belt broke? If not that is likely the issue. When the timing belt breaks it often causes the pistons to beat the valves and them not seal properly causing no compression.

Speed doesnt matter. If the engine is still rotating it can come into contact with the valves. I doubt you'll have to replace all of them. It usually costs $3-400 around here to get the head rebuilt at a machine shop. But again that depends on the extent of the damage.
There are are two timing belts if thats what your talking about. One for the crank, oil pump, and cam. The other for the rear balance shaft. But if you have no compression that has nothing to do with the problem at this point.

Its only the head that needs rebuilt. But if you wanna do a full swap have at it. 4g69 came I'm several cars now. Ralliarts, Eclipse, Galant, and Outlanders come to mind. Make sure you get the right year tho. Some 2.4l in those models are the 4g64 which has no mivec.
