In the US it is illegal to have a high flow cat. I will try to the find the code somewhere, but it deals with messing with emissions control equipment at all. That means gutting, changing, removing, etc any emissions control equipment on your car. I think the car has to be at least ten years old, and the cat has to be inactive for you to be able to remove it.

I think you will find that it is COMPLETELY legal to have a high flow cat in ANY state (including Cali).
It is illegal to remove your cat. and replace is w/ a test pipe. This I know for sure.
But, check into it though. As I don't live in the states I could be wrong...

I know for a fact that it is illegal to replace or remove your cat converter unless it is damaged by a rock* or something. If you have a form saying the cat conveter was damaged and you replaced it with a different one, it is completely legal.

* denotes any blunt object or combination of blunt objects that may unintentionally or intentionally collide with the cat at high velocity
e.g. baseball bat, golf club, tire iron, ect...

Um..ok first of all..why is everyone afraid of having "illeagle" parts? Geeze...it scares me to think that this is actually a performance site.. Hell I ride onto a military base every damn day with a race pipe on my motorcycle. Anyhow if you want to testpipe your vehicle, you simply swap out for the cat when going in for emmissions...or if you get stopped for being too loud or some crap (Never have i heard of this actually happening) You get a fixit ticket...so you swap for cat, get a cop to sign off on it and swap it back.. User your noodles people... Granted this place is probably dominated by middleclass 30 year olds that forgot that it is infact not such a bad thing to break the laws.

I hate knowing we are producing a generation that believes what the last two messages say.

Yeah it scares me too that so many people are willing to break the law; though in todays society we have some laws that no longer protaine to protection of the individuals, but instead cater to special intrests. For example: I believe that a catalytic converter is a good thing for most cars; though I think each state should make a optional regersteration for performance cars that costs more; like if avarage is $50 then maybe it costs $250; and allows you to only have to pass safety inspection and not emissions. Thus allowing law abideing racers to have the cars they want. It also discourages the law breaking becasue if there is a option that only costs a extra $200 every couple years as compared to $500 for being caught with out the proper equip would'nt you take it. and also it makes more money for the state they get more at registeration and also they would not have to track as many cars down that they do now. Back on track; one of the reason so many people thing law breaking isn't so bad now is that a lot of laws don't protect people they protect the intersts of the state or a special intrest group that paid off the congress men. With that said; I may not agree with the laws, but until they require me to violate my conscience I will try to follow them. It's really hard though............in fact when I want to tune my car (which I don't find violates my conscience) I have a really hard time following those (let's face it) stupid laws, but I still do. Thats just my 2 cents........wlll actually its probably more like 10, but I guess I'm kinda opinionated.

Damn stop worrying so much, all that anxiety and what if about breaking the law will put you in a home!

My posts were meant as a joke. I am paying the consequences of the law right now, I have a suspended license, and you will not see me driving. Although I will assre you the EVO was not part of any of that and why I dislike law enforcement the most is because they profile who they pullover.

For example, my girl and I are goinghome on the highway. It was a decent friday afternoon and it was a 55mph limit and we were doing that. Even though were getting passed like crazy we still go the speed limit. Next thing you know the radar dectecotr goes off and we see a cop on the other side of the road. I have tinted windows and in Michigan this is illegal. Next thing you know the cop pulls a U-turn and pulls US over. I must say in all my days that this is one of the most rude cops I have ever dealt with. She was driving and he asked for my information because he wanted "to check to see if I had any outstanding warrants", ok that is a nice thing for him to say(dick). My girlfriend talks to him and he says he pulled us over because my window on the passenger side was a 3/4 rolled down and he could see it was tinted. Next tthing she says is what is more o a concern, my tinted windows or the idiots that are passing me going 70-80? The cop has no good answer and leaves and comes back with the ticket. He says nothing and gives us the ticket, whats wrong...do you feel guilty you stipid pig? My girl has a perfect record...what was the cop looking for?

Were going to fight the ticket on grounds of discrimination. We are both white, so its not on ground of race, although there is no reason he pulled us over but to hassle us. The laws suck and so do cops. But there is no way I will get my license back and keep it unlessI abide by this stupid system we live in.

I would love to move to Europe, they have no emissions laws, laxed speed limit laws, and some roads with no speed limit. Only if they could figure out here that lawmakers and cops need to pull there head out of their a*s and actually write tickets and make laws that are more important than window tinit, give me a damn break!

I just purchased a buschur high flow cat for my 2004 OZ....and went to get it installed at a tuner shop. They wouldn't put it on because the end of the downpipe goes right into the cat and it's an oval shape....I'm gonna give a buzz to Buschur and see whats up.....any ideas?

buschir told you me you would need their downpipe too to make the high flow cat work in the RA.

What kind of gains are you expecting with a high flow cat?

It's Federal law. You can't really mess w/ the cat.
