Transmission Fit Guide

Hello guys,

Recently I broke my transmission on my 2004 mitsubishi lancer ralliart. I tried to rebuild but the shops in méxico cant rebuilt. I was searching for a used one but it's kind of complicated. And I was thinking what other trans can fit my lancer... I search on google, but there isn't a clean response, I know I have the 4G69 but don't know what other Vehicles from the make can fit ...

If you can give me the fit guide will be awesome.

thanks.

W5m51

W5M51 is the transmission you’re gonna be looking for. It’s in all the 2.4L motors in the 4G69 motors. The lancers from 2007/08 and up with the newer engines have the same transmission. But the bell housing could be different.

all 4G69 powered lancers i'm aware of have F5M42 gearboxes, but the 4G69 variant has a different bell housing than the 4G94 variants, because the clutch release system is different, and also the starter motor location is different. Internally the gear ratios are slightly different as well..but they are both F5M42 variants...

I'm speaking only of USDM models, I have no idea about other markets.

I have access to pro demand which is a program that garages uses and schools that teach automotive technicians for the ralliart lancers with the 4G69(2.4L) the transmission code it gives me is W1M51 and the one in my Oz ralley 2.0L has the F5M42. I’m in the process in doing an engine swap and I’m running into the issue with the bellhousing being different. The motor I’m taking out is out of a auto so I don’t know if the bellhousing from that will work. But yah I searched this up a lot and I’ve found out that the ralliarts have the W1M51 and when I was looking for gears and stuff the transmission shop asked me which one I had knowing the year of my vehicle. And I’m from Canada so same as us.

Either your information is incorrect...or the Mitsubishi factory service manual is incorrect...to my knowledge, all manual gearbox lancers from 02-06 used F5M42 gearboxes, and the only difference is one is a -1 and one is -2

I had a 2003 lancer M/T for about 5 years, and currently still have my 2006 Ralliart and a 2011 Ralliart...

Im not 100% either but the two different codes would make sense for the bell housing to be different but everything that google says it’s the evolution transmission and nothing about the Ralliart. If that’s the case it being the F5M42 then things should go a bit easier for me in a swap I’m doing lol

I'm 99% sure they're all f5m42...so any manual transmission from an 04-06 lancer ralliart, or any 06-12 eclipse GS tranny was made for a 4g69...if you check out car-part.com you can source a whole used transmission for a reasonable price although there's no way to tell, it might need a rebuild...

Awesome I also have an 06 I love the car to death. Unfortunately the car has been sitting without a transmission for about two years now I feel like I can never find one. Recently I been look at eclipse gs trannys, but I really would like to just find a ralliart.

There's gotta be one sitting around somewhere. Check car-part.com. I know this thread is old...but maybe its still sitting around. Plus, I have to post 15 times so I'm making it count.

@Slabber Actually, if all goes well, I may have one for sale. It needs 3rd gear and reverse synchros though. Should be "easy" enough to rebuild. I'll keep you mind when I tear it out.
