I don't think there would be an issue with this, but I'll let someone else chime in that might be more knowledgeable. I'm pretty sure it's the same exact engine. Just placements of other engine bay items are in different areas between the two.

Just the motor or the transmission and all?

If its just the motor there shouldnt be any issue what so ever. Im fairly certain my replaced engine didnt come out of another ralliart.

I dont know if the transmission will work thought...

I need a motor for a 2004 mits lancer ralliart.. and well this is what ive found out so far. but not from here.. I've called some big junkyards that deal with alot of imports and they are saying there is an A and a B motor for the 2004 mitsubishi lancer ralliart.. A motor will fit fine but B motor I would have to change Cam shaft? I think is what they said.. They also said no other motor from any other car will match up.. Im a complete noob when it comes to all this so I dont know who to listen too.. thats why I came to evolutionm.net.. there are alot of smart dudes on here I KNOW can help..

If its only a cam shaft change I believe I remember reading that there was a difference between the '04 and '05-'06 cam shafts. Shouldnt be anything major. In my experience any 4g69 engine should work. Meaning you can get them from Ralliarts, 4g Eclipse, and 9g Galants. Ive never known there to be any MAJOR differences between the motors used in those cars.... I could be wrong though so Im hoping someone will back me up on that.

What happened to your current motor?

if there were any differences in the camshafts itd be between the 04-05 and the 06 models. the only differences would be if its coming out of an AWD vs a FWD car just cause the oilpans are a bit different.

wife was driving the car when barring went out of water pump then I guess she kept driving it is what im guessing until it just stopped.. The water pump had a hole in the side from the fan looking thing inside the pump.. just toook valve cover off took plugs out and came up with a home made tool, added water to radiator and water came out my exhaust about 3.4 of the way to to tail pipe.. so back to home made tool.. fitting that went into spark plug (1) hole, rubber hose with air gauge on one hose and air compressor only a 35gal one tho onto the other end.. plugged 3 and 4 turned air on and water came out #2.. took all plugs out and turned crank shaft to TDC and then another 180 and watercame out 3 then 4 then 2 and then 1.. dont know the signifigance to that.. but when the tool was in and air on I did hear air in the radiator.. Know what any of that means?

Seriously man,
why keep asking if you dont believe the answers you are getting ?

You need a 4G69 engine, not a 04RA engine.
Outlanders and Galants had them too.
Even so plenty from Lancers are listed on the site below.

im looking for the 04 ralliart specificly so I dont have to mod anything to get it in. Did you do the replacement? ive found that there is only 2 motors for the 04 specificly one will drop in but have to change cam or something like that and the other will drop right in and plug right up with no mods.. Ive done so much research andI keep talking to people that think certain models will drop in and go but they dont(not without modding) oh and just the engine btw.. Was hoping someone has done this befor on this site.. Im a complete noob but I do understand

Let's say the camshafts are different.
What does it matter ?
You are buying an engine which I hope comes with a camshaft installed and that camshaft being the specification for said engine.

Why would you need to change the camshaft ?
