JDM Evo 6 Zero Fighter.

Hi all.
New here from the UK.
I wanted to share the progress of the car over here as well as back home on the MLR.
I've done the intro thing below just so you can get a little of my story.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evom-new-member-faqs-evom-rules/766331-newbie-over-pond.html

In 1999, Mitsubishi decided to create an Evo to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the A6M Zero Fighter fighter plane that was introduced in 1939 and was involved in WWII.
60 units were to be made available.
The car would be an order only item and consisted of a specially made ralliart body kit which was a front 3 piece splitter and side skirts. The ralliart performance parts catalogue which was, hardpipe kit, induction pipe, battery relocation, brake master stopper, oil cap, rad cap, front and rear strut brace, ralliart ecu mapped to 340bhp, ralliart stainless steel cat back exhaust, mitsubishi 1 din triple gauges, carbon heater surround trim, carbon handbrake pull and 18x8 et30 Work Meister S2R magnesium alloy wheels. The cars would also have Zero Fighter decals fitted to both rear doors and the bonnet and boot.
The cars were available in both RS and GSR and were available in scotia white/passion red and satellite silver/thurlam grey.
The cars could also be tailored by the customer with any parts or colour combination.
The parts fitted added another third to the price of the car and rumour was that bad quality control on the bodykit moulds meant that only around 25 were ever produced.
At Ralliart UK, it was felt inappropriate to release the car under the Zero Fighter name due to deaths to allied forces by the aircraft. So they renamed the car the Extreme. It was the same process as Japan although Ralliart uk only produced the car based on the RSII and were available for £41,995.
So a little bit of a history on the cars.
I may have missed some parts of the story, I could go on and on and probably bore you all.
So onto the car. Its all original, in good clean order. A vx check has been done and it is accident and incident free. The engine bay and underneath is in good condition although a little tired. This will be addressed over the winter hopefully with a full refurbishment and refresh.
It has a few of the original parts that were not fitted or have gone astray. The wheels being the obvious. Its fitted with pretty rare 17x8.5 Enkie wrc tarmac evo wheels which i think really suit the car. I will be trying to locate some work meister wheels for originality. Also missing is the triple gauges and handbrake pull, which again ill be trying to source.
So, a few pics.

Finally got it home.

At auction in Japan

As someone who also enjoys automotive history, this is a spectacular find. Commented on your MLR post, but felt the need to comment again

Thanks. I'm very lucky to have found it at the right time and place. I dont recognise your name from the mlr. Unless it's a different one of course.

Thanks. The boot is in good order as is the engine bay and underside. Both the engine bay and underside are in need of a general tidy up and clean. This will be done over the winter. This is the engine bay, a few rare ralliart parts in there. I'll take some later of the boot. Underside pics are a bit difficult as I have no ramps. It's also had the brakes refreshed. They still need bedding in.

So very cool. Thanks for all the other detail pics.
I'm super jealous of the ACD / AYC. I'd love to experience how those elements effect the platform.

If you're ever feeling like doing an experiment, I'd love to know if you can feel the effects of the rear trunk bracing. Specifically, the rear strut tower brace, and the struts between there and the rear floor brace.
I built a tow (receiver) hitch to take wheels to the track, and as an unexpected side benefit felt a huge improvement in the stability and precision of the rear tracking at the limit. It went from feeling a bit soft and my not really knowing quite where the oversteer threshold was, to it being a nice proportional dial with a big knob that I can easily adjust. I'd be happy to build some more bracing back there if it would improve things further.
To be clear, I've got pretty stiff springs and sticky tires for a "street car".

Hi thanks for your comments. I've only taken the car out to make sure everything was working ok and again to bed the new brakes in. Although I had the same rear strut brace set up in my 6 Extreme and it certainly makes a difference. The car feels a lot stiffer and more planted to the road on the rear. This feels just as stiff. My last evo was a 9gt and compared to the later models, the 6 is quite unrefined, you feel every small bump in the road and the pedal feel is more direct. Every drive is an event in itself with the noise, feel and smell of the car. It never fails to put a smile on your face due to the way it behaves compared to other cars.
