Question Looking for the right muffler

I want to get a new muffler for my ralliart. I don't want anything too loud, but I want it to sound good on higher rpm (under load). I don't want to sound ricey. I'm sticking with stock catback, so I need to know what can fit under there. I've been looking on magnaflows, but I'll take whatever works.

Look into the RRM axle back it uses a magnaflow muffler.

I would say get the RRM axleback. That way, you get the Magnaflow muffler, and you don't have to go to a shop to have the new muffler welded on. Just unbolt the existing axleback, and bolt the new one up. Then, enjoy.

it depends. We already have a 2 1/8" (ID) Mandrel-bent SS exhaust from factory. RRM claimed that a bigger exhaust made a marginal difference; therefore, they released the axleback just to replace the almost, but not ENTIRELY free-flowing muffler.

Until you see dynos from Ultimate, I would say sticking with RRM would be the smarter decision.

What do you guys think about custom piping the exhaust and putting a HKS muffler on it.

So, basically, all the stock system, more or less, is missing is the bigger tip for sound...?

tips don't enhance sound. The reason the stock exhaust isn't as loud as an aftermarket system is because it may have a baffle or two within the muffler just so it stays within or well below exhaust SPL laws. If you were to take the RA muffler and chop it apart, you would find a chamber or two. As opposed to RRM's axle-back, which is straight-thru, no restriction.

Sounds like it would be a good combo...just make sure you get stainless steel for piping...also make sure you have a resonator somewhere to minimize buzzing. Then you'd be set!
