LUCAS synthetic OIL

Hey,

I called my local dealer and they recommend 5W20, MOBILE 1 does not come 5W20 in canada and I can't find any 00W20. So, i found LUCAS 5W20. I've heard that their oil and tranny stablizer is great. What about the OIL? or combo OIL and STABLIZER

anyone know?

thanks

It says 5w30 in the Warranty and Maintenance manual. Mobil1 comes in that flavor.

I just changed my oil with Mobil1 5w30 this past weekend. Do you think they could have mounted the filter any better place? Took me a few minutes of laying under the car to find the damn thing, and then a chain wrench to get it off. Once I got it loose, I got the oil bath down my arm, because it's mounted face-up.

Next time, I'm popping a hole in the bottom of it to let it drain a bit, first.

For the record, the Mobil1 filter for these cars is the M-108, which is tiny. I think I'll try an M-105 (fits 1G DSMs) next time.

It took you a few minutes to find the oil filter? it's right next to wear the oil pan bolt is! I used mobil 1 oil 5w30, but I used a fram filter, and it was much smaller than the stock filter too.

I just put in Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic. I haven't really noticed a difference other than the engine idling smoother. That was probably because I needed an oil change. Has anyone else noticed a difference?

By the way... I thought it was cake getting the old filter off. I did need a chain wrench though. I put on a new Purolater filter. It wasn't as wide as the OEM filter on there but it was longer. I talked to the Mitsu Parts Manager and he said that their filters have a valve located inside to help push the oil through for better performance. Their filter only cost five bucks so that's what I'm going with next time I change the oil.

ya, dont expect to see much of a difference in performance using synthetic, but it lasts longer so the next oil change is a few thousand more miles away than it would be if you used normal oil.

Yes, it took me a while to find. I'm used to my DSMs, where the filter is easily accessible, from the top or the bottom. On this car, it's kinda hidden, and surrounded by plastic shrouds. No problem, though, I just looked around while I was draining the oil out of the pan.

Oh, and I wouldn't use a Fram filter on somebody else's car, much less my own.

If you want a good oil, i use royal Purple in my Ralliart, and i see a difference, i'm going to change my manual gear oil as well, supposed to free up some hidden pony's, so far i've been very pleased with engine oil, gave me 8hp more on the dyno! and i was very doubtful at first. But not even Mobil 1 can do that!!

I'm easily confused. The OEM filter had the extra valve, or the Purolator?

The OEM filter has the valve, according to the dealer. I didn't see one in the Purolater.

The valve in the OEM filter is probably an anti-drainback valve. The Purolator and Mobil-1 filters are likely to have them, too. I know the M-105 I used to use in my DSM had the valve.
