Ralliart Engine Cover

I was just looking at this thing and realized... Its pretty hideous. I mean, compared to the Scion TC, or the Nissan Spec V, or Honda SI, etc. It just lacks something. It needs to be more robust, look something more like the Evo or even a base Lancer, rather than those artsy bubbles and weak lettering.

If anyone has any fave engine covers, post em here.

Is this Dressed up or Evo-ish enough for you, i dicided to paint my valve cover, seeing as it was too ugly the way it was before.

haha derrek, they already make a cf cover. lately ive been thinking about this but for the 02-03 lancer, id lvoer for rrm to make one for us since our valve cover is about as drab as drab can be.

actually, the CF cover isn't an improvement at all, its just and OEM replacement. i just don't like the bubbly shape of the head or the cover, and the lettering sucks too. looks like they just found some random font and said WTH.

I like the cover. The thing I don't like about the engine is the air intake. Looks like the enginers designed a system with a round intake and slamed the hood on it to get it flat.

Sorry to go OT, but what country is this Ralliart in the picture from? It has a different strut bar and a different valve cover than the US model.

Yea, I noticed that as well. Its not the 3 point triangulated piece like my RA has (soon to be replaced by a custom piece)....

I like it a lot. At least they didn't cover it all over with plastic. One of the few 2004 cars where you can SEE the valve cover. As for the base Lancer valve cover, well it is very plain and ugly.
That toyota one is pretty ugly, it is PLASTIC. The honda one looks good though (the valve cover is behind the spark plug cover, ours is reversed).

I like the way the engine looks, it's big for an inline 4 and the engine bay itself is roomy, the only thing I don't like is the strut bar colour, instead of red, they should've matched the exterior

Now look at the Toyota, its patheticlly small and cramped

I like the red bar. it matches my RRM intake. Also will match my ground kit wires, when they get here (delayed from the damn hurricane!). So, I figured I would make my valve cover match, as well:

anyway, I made a howto if anyone wants to do this. its actually really easy. i just used 'ford red' engine paint by duplicolor. really close match! but all in all, i really like the look. its unique. i dont think mitsu was trying to design this like anyone else's car. The CF cover would also help, but only if its not the only CF piece in the bay. that might just look a bit outa place imho.

Big is right. I find it pretty funny that the 2.4L is a 4 cylinder and the 1.8L in an MX3 is a V6.
Agreed on lots of room too, very unlike a 2004 car.
