Water pump

Just a question, I was looking under the hood and noticed both rad hoses and both heater hoses connect to the engine on the transmission side, instead of the pully side. Is the water pump a remote electric unit? It was the only thing under the hood that confused me. Hell, I can name most of the sensors on there, but the water pump confused me.

I'd bet good money that the water pump is driven by the timing belt, and is just hidden from view underneath the belt cover. It is a bit strange that the hoses both feed into the tranny side of the motor though...

I'll be picking up a shop manual as soon as it arrives at the dealers. It was one of the things I had thrown in with the car purchase, among other things.

Interesting how many purchasers don't have this thrown in on a new car purchase. I do it with every car I buy.

The water pump is driven by the serpentine (drive) belt. The pulley for it is on the left top side of the engine. Interesting to note is that the belt runs under the pulley, not over and around it. Also there is a metal hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the water pump under the intake manifold.

Guess it's a good thing I didn't bet money then, I would have lost...

OK, so there are hoses running from the thermosdat/rad hoses to the water pump? Probably a good thing that it is run by the serp. belt. I always worry about timing belt driven pumps.

Only one metal hose running from the thermostat housing to the water pump. It runs under the intake manifold.
