pretty good, IMO. Last year I had to have my hood, passengers front panel and bumper replaced, plus the frame was whacked about 3mm off of perfect (well, Mitsu spec is up to 7mm +- but this shop knows me and they wanted to get it perfect). Anyway, since they couldn't get panels in my color the total for paint, panels and labor was over 6 grand. But that was at a really high end shop in Seattle, and they'll tell you up front that they charge more than a lot of places do. But, they restore classic car paint and body as well as newer (obviously) so take that for what it's worth.
You can definietly shop around for this kind of thing. your ins co will recommend someone near you who's reputable and who won't overtly screw you over.
Good luck!

I had to replace the front bumper, the fender one headlight and one foglight and it came to about 3000 damage Canadian with no internal structure damage. I think you will be looking at pretty close to 5k... best of luck I know how bad it sucks.

looks like the bumper is the least of your worries. that looks like about $3-4,000 to me could be 5-6,000 because these cars are so new. If you add up the increase in your insurance for the next three years, it will still cost you less to report it then to try to fix it your self. I don't think it will effect your insurance for six years. Most things drop off your report after 3 years.

I need your opinion guys.. how much do you think a painted (Thunder gray) Mitsubishi factory hood for my car would cost, ballpark estimate? My friend keeps telling me to go with Carbon Fiber (if they make it) but i would expect the CF hood to be much more expensive

CF hood will likely be cheaper. But, if you're going the insurance route, you probably won't have much say in the way the car looks when it's done. My ins just wrote the check to the body shop, and they said they would absolutely not pay to have any aftermarket parts installed on the car, no matter how much cheaper the part was.

File the claim, find the body shop get the car fixed. I'd ask if they'd be willing to pay for aftermarket, but not likely.

Now, if you'd been hit by someone else and you got an estimate for 6K from their body people, they'd cut you the check and you could do with it what you will ... had that happen on this car, too... not 6K but close to 800 for a scratch on my driver's side fender.... really. Just a scratch. No panel damage or anything.

wow... well if i choose not to file a claim and just pay for it all without the insurance company's help i might go the cheaper route. I'm trying to spend as little as possible on the repairs but still get the parts back into somewhat of an original look. AKA fix the bumper supports and frame parts, which i find more important than my bumper...

Dude.. IF you put the Claim in all you will have to pay is your deductible.. Now would you rather a 500 dollar payment for a 5k accident or to pay 5k for the whole thing alone?IF you want a CF hood out of it it will be cheap[er but you should take it to a body shop that you know well that will give you the money back in the cost of the hood. However there wont be any CF hoods available till later this month. You cannot bent that frame back on your own.. It takes too much work and unless you are a body man with experience.. It wont come out right.
Also if you dont bend/stretch the frame back correctly you can do more harm than good.I mean you have to seriously know what you are doing.Just put the claim in and take the course.. I am telling you it will be fine if you just let the insurance company handle it.Parts arent bad its the labor and paint that costs. Our parts dont come in painted.I know for a fact because I saw all mine come off the truck to the body shop after I had my accident. They have to get your paint code and mix the paint and only a body shop can do that.
You are better off putting a claim in.it will be cheaper for you and it wont take long to fix.

definitley dont go thru insurance!!!

i have 7 insurance points caused by accidents and my insurance rates are thru the roof! yea he said pay the deductible of $500 instead of 5g for the damage but in the long run you'll be assed out... if u go thru insurance ur premium will be raised anywhere from an extra $80-$250 a month depending on how much the damage is... and if u do the math... paying that extra a month until your 25 isnt worth it bro... ive been in this situation 3 times trust me pay it out of pocket and dont even bother with insurance.... see if u can find a good body shop that will hook u up and do it that way... id rather pay 5g for damage then pay extra on monthly payments for insurance for the next couple years... also ur insurance rates dont drop until ur 25... theres ways to get it reduced like driving classes or certain student discounts but it will still go up if you report it.. dont do it!!!

Insurance companies do not asess premium charges by how much they pay out, but rather the nature of the accident (I work for auto insurance)
This accident, I hate to say it, however WILL raise premium no matter which way they look at it... One car accident the liability of the accident rests all on you since there is no other driver in this accident. Even if it was road condition they'll tell you that you failed to maintain proper look out to avoid an accident...
Unfortunately your premium will go up if claim is filed, how much I'm not certain...

Good luck, man!

my insurance is supposedly going to go up 900$ more each year.. so i don't think i'm going to go through insurance, i haven't gotten the damaged appraised by my body shop yet so it's all up in the air still. Wish me luck, i think i'll be bringing it to the shop sometime at the end of the week.

i have a ? though for the guy that works w/ auto insurance....

ok... say im driving and all of a sudden another driver rear ends me... ::knocks on wood:: this hasnt happened to me but incase it does whats the right way to go about the situation...?

call the police and have them come to the scene and fill out an accident report...
..then i obtain the report and contact the other party's insurance...
..i tell the what happend, give them a copy of the report..and their insurance will mail me a check for the damages once it was looked at??

also, if that accident were to happen and i wouldnt want my insurance involved, is that possible? i mean i dont have to contact my insurance right b/c i would definitley want to avoid reporting it to my insurance....so basically what i want to know is how to i go about receiving a check for damages thru the other partys insurance without letting mine know? is what i said above correct?thanx
