Help?

Hey i just wrapped the front end of my ralliart around a telephone pole. The damage wasn't that bad, and the airbags didn't deploy (thunkfully it was at like 15 mph). But there's still a good amount of damage to the front end of the car. I was just wondering if anyone was getting rid of their front bumper body parts or anything of such? I'm gonna need to replace it, and i'm not sure if my parents want me to put a claim in because my insurance is going to sky rocket... they're all pissed at me now. O yea, the situation, i was driving downhill on a turn at about 20 mph, and then i saw some leaves so i downshifted from 3rd to second, and hit the brakes, but the car kept moving and the next thing i saw was a telephone pole.. and yea do the math.

Any suggestions.. I'll try to post some pictures later

I would give you my old bumper but it is Cracked as well.I hit the back end of a BMW with it.The Bumper is like $400 .. add another $100-$200 to get it painted and the cost is like $600.. Which isnt all that bad.. Did you damage any of the headlights? Those are expensive.$250 a pop.. Post the pics and I will be able to asses the amount a little bit more.If you take a driver improvement course then your insurance wont rise and you can still put a claim in.Just if you are going to make a claim then make sure you tell them you are taking a driver improvement course and your insurance wont suffer.

Oh and someone should have told you this well before this happened.. Dont hit your brakes when you are on leaves.. You should have just down shifted and steered thru the turn..Hopefully there wont be a next time on this situation.

So yea.. the damage apparently isn't just at the front area, the metal thing that protects the bottom of the piping where the muffler attaches to the header was bent as well during the crumpling affect i think.. and it's about an inch lower to the ground. Not sure exactly what else is wrong.. But hey is the strut bar, stock one for ralliarts, supposed to be higher on the right side when facing the car, meaning that the bar itself doesn't look level when the car is on level ground. And if it is supposed to be leveled, well then i bent that somehow too... I'm at a loss of words..

I don't know much from cars.. but from what it looks like there's a lot of bent metal parts... and i'm assuming one of them is the frame...

the fram is bent Dude, you're gonna have to bite the bullet and file a claim so you can get that front part of the frame pulled back out; you'd never get anything to fit right with the car in that condition. Then the shop will be able to source the fender and other parts for you, too. Talk to your insurance company about the conditions under whcih the accident happened- maybe there's a history of accidents on that road and they'd take it easier on you. Also ask about taking defensive driving courses. I know that poor driving isn't likely what caused this accident, but a lot of companies offer a discount for taking additional defensive driving instruction.

good luck!

how are you going to bend a frame out by yourself? Once you get the old body panels off you won't get the new ones on, the radiator won't be secured properly....

file the claim with your insurance and take it to a shop that they recommend. Your deductible is going to be way way way less than the cost of just replacing the bumper, lip and hood.

And your strut bar is fine, one side is supposed to be a bit higher than the other.

iono what's going to happen, my mom said that if the damage is around 3-5 grand, my insurance goes up 2 pts. for the next 6 years, and i'll be a step 17 or 19 or w/e 2 + the number i am at now is. She's gonna find out from her co-worker what the added insurance cost will be.

So in other words, what are the chances that this will be over 5 Grand in repairs??
