Question Engine Sounds

Ok I have approx 8300 miles on my Ralliart. I've been taking it in for the normal oil change and so forth. I don't know if its normal engine sound or not but it just bothers me somehow. I've have not abuse

Could it be possible for the mechanics to install the spark plug incorrectly? Maybe he didn't push it in far enough.

Would it be a good idea to change the spark plugs and the spark plug wires, all at once?

Or would changing the gas help? Thanks.

Pretty hard to help you if you don't explain the noise and where it is coming from.

it's the lifters clicking... just like every lancer out there. look at the other thread you started about this same problem for the answer about changing gas (short answer- stay at 87)

My 2.4L makes an American V8 type noise when it is cold (growly and knocky).
Once it is warmed up fully, it is nice and smooth. I use regular gasoline (87).
Also, it sounds like it is deeper in the block, not so much valve noise as piston noise. No biggie though, it goes away and isn't very loud.

Our engines sound and run pretty nasty when they're cold, but as soon as she's warm, everything's good.

Yea i get the clicking normally but after i run it on the highway or drive around for a while you can barely hear the thing. Btw i change my oil every 3,000 miles... I do it myself, much cheaper and plus i don't trust my dealer at all..

Same with mine. It only takes a minute or so of driving to warm my car up, so just take it easy when it's cold (like you should with any car) and it'll run great.

It's been hanging at or around freezing here lately. So my warm up times are about 5 minutes now. In the summer, they were about 30 seconds-1 minute until the gauge hit the middle.

Think about it! If it wasn't important then the intervals would be further apart. After all...you don't REALLY need a spark to make power right

I'd say change them a little early....

I take the lack of responses to mean no one else understood the joke? LOL I won't ruin it, let's see someone pick up on it.
