I'm fighting the urge to come to Bakersfield and slap you. Seriously, why would you want to drive your car into the redline, let alone hit the rev-limiter? Our powerband drops drastically at redline and there's no advantage unless your goal is to wreck your car.

Actually, wait, forget what I've said. I'm sure you could hit 8000rpm. Can't do it? That's ok, just keep trying it'll come eventually...

For god sakes, don't rape a beautiful car people! Have some respect for what you drive!

i filmed a drag and an road race between a scion xa and xb today....but i didnt get out of 3rd gear! lol. i did come very close to red, maybe even a bit in. but yea, we lose lots of power by 6500rpm, so no use. if u wana go fast, shift at like 6k at most.

edit: the xa won both. it was manual. the xb was auto, but had heads. who cares =)

6500, and dude Jars chill out man, hitting redline will not kill your engine. Over-revving it to 8k might, but the redline is there for a reason: to limit the engine to a SAFE speed. Having said that, contantly redlining and bouncing off the limiter isn't good, but common sense would tell most people that.

Mine's an auto, I redline it a lot. It doesn't mess up the engine unless you do it cold or do it way too much. The engine sounds beautiful at redline. I hit the rev limiter once. Now normally the auto doesn't let the engine go past 6500rpm. But I was racing, shifting manually. Forgot to shift (everyone will now ask why I forgot, but i'm not supposed to talk about it).
Rev limiter is 7500 I believe and it sounds bad. Redlining it is OK sometimes, but don't hit the limiter. Hearing that disgusting sound is enough that I won't ever do it again.

I shift right around 6250 RPM, right about when my CAI starts screaming. After this, power drops off, and the rev limiter is in the 7500 range.

Calm Reimundo....didn't mean to come off as a jackass. I'm just pullin your leg. I didn't treally think you were stupid enough to drive you r car like that all day long...

And now that I've heard someone actually hit 8000 rpm, i'm curious to know if you can actually hit higher than that? (i'm not gonna try mind you....) As far as shifting, I always shift just before redline, i gues so 6500. When I did once or twice hit redline on a missed shift when I was first learning, my engine screamed so horribly I almost puked...hahaha. But it was only for a second, and I won't be stupid enough to do THAT all over again.

Like Arithmetic, I must've been the shift champ when that happened!

I was under the impression that fuel cutoff (rev-limiter) was at 6750? I haven't actually hit the limiter on my car yet, but I didn't think the engine would hit 7k without forcing it into a lower gear than it's supposed to be.
