Unhappy need help my RA is running weak now?

i went to a shop here and they made me a full catback exhaust for $90 with my type x exhaust and it sound a lot nicer and a sri which me and my friend made. it helped alot when racing. but the question i want to know is where do you guys luanch your RA at i luanch at about 2700 if i go any higher i burn to much rubber? all the races i been racing somehow they said to the end of 3rd gear thats when the 1/4 ends so then everytime i race i can only go up to 80mph not even so i think that i should finish in 4th gear? i race a celica GT and he took me all the way through 3rd gear i was behind like half a car but when i pop into 4th gear at like 90mph i pass him like a half car to but he said he won he was a friend to so i didn't want to say anything. But i think i would win cuz at the end of 3rd that cant be right for the RA redline is so close and i go up to gear faster then any other car i raced before. The only car i really think i lost to was a MR2 turbo and a integra with a H22 swap i came close to the integra i lost only buy a fender the integra swap was bad i had to double cluth on 3rd though. But now somehow my car seem so weak i couldn't almost pull a civic cx with a sohc vtec. i beat him by a car and a half or almost 2 but i think i can pull him alot more? my car has about 15 thousand miles i was thinking about spark plugs and i need to change my oil to but it sure is running weaker than usual though i dont know whats wrong?

I'm having trouble comprehending what you're trying to say.

I'm skeptical of a $90 exhaust setup, but who knows. Also, sounds to me like it's a driver problem. Practice driving more, perhaps look into a driving class.

I don't launch at a high RPM because I still have the stock clutch line and restrictor. Don't get on the throttle until your clutch is fully engaged. If you're topping out third gear and the 1/4 mile isn't done yet, then yes, shift. Otherwise you're just going to hit the rev limiter and lose power, and abuse your engine.

Retyped it the best I could in a few minutes to prevent others from having to try and read it :P

But the question I want to know is, at what RPM do you launch your RA at? I launch at about 2700 and if I go any higher, I burn too much rubber. In all of the races I’ve been in somehow they said to the end of 3rd gear that’s when the 1/4 ends so then every time I race I can only go up to 80mph not even so I think that I should finish in 4th gear? Holy **** I can’t fix this sentence.

When I raced a Celica GT, he took me all the way through 3rd gear. I was behind half a car length, but when I popped it into 4th gear at around 90mph, I passed him like a half a car length. He said he won, but he was a friend so I didn't want to say anything. I think I would of won because the 3rd gear redline can’t be right because I go up to gear faster then any other car I raced before.

The only cars I really think I lost to was a MR2 Turbo and an Integra with a H22 swap. I came close to the Integra as I only lost by a fender. The Integra swap was bad as I had to double clutch on 3rd though.

Now somehow my car seems so weak. I almost couldn't pull on a Civic CX with a SOHC V-Tec. I almost beat him by two car lengths, but I believe I should have pulled on him a lot more. My car has about 15 thousand miles and I was thinking about replacing the spark plugs and doing an oil change, as I need one. Anyone have any ideas as to why my car could be running weaker than usual?

Thank you, I think I understand now.

Transmissions are geared differently. Some cars can go 80 in 3rd (ours), some can go faster (such as many automatics). My old '62 Ford Falcon would go 75 in SECOND gear... it was a 2 speed transmission. Heh.

If you're at 15K, not a bad idea to look over your spark plugs. Someone else on here noticed some cracks on their at about this time. Plugs are expensive for our car, though.

I launch kinda low, 2000-2500 and as I learned on the boards yesterday I now take it to 6500. I ease out the clutch and I seem to be finding the point right before the tires slip. After that I'm over 4500 after each shift and I floor it to about 6200. I'm still stock but I'm smoken a lot af cars that aren't. I've taken a celica GT by a lot and last night a 2door neon with an aftermarket stg1 turbo. RSX isn't a problem either. I really want to find a spec-v to race. Everone on here says it should come down to the driver.
