Sorry to hear that man... well you could always work at a bowling alley part-time like me. I know, a bowling alley, but hey theres lots oif benifits. If you like to bowl, it's always free. You get 50% off food and free drinks. You also meet tons of people (well this may be true only at my bowling alley since its the only one within a 30 mile radius). And starting pay for peeps eighteen and over is 7.25, and i think a mechanic is usually around 8.00. You usually get a raise in 6 months. I dont know just a thought, best of luck to ya.

Rallilanc - Thats just what i was going to suggest. Warehouse work has gotten me through some tough times of unemployment and I now have a $30,000+ permenant IT job at a company I used to drive a forklift for as a temp. That being said,

spOrk- it aint the end of the worls, trust me, I've been there and back. Some good advice, file for unemployment, breathe easy and find a new job as quick as possible. I found if you treat looking for a job as if it were a job, you find something pretty quick

Keep your head up...

It also depends in the area you live. Bestbuy and Circuit City are always good places. I also, walmart warehouse starts off @ 13.75 (my friend works there). Look @ the warehouse field, they give you GOOD money and HOURS!

I work @ a doctor office

Take a couple years get an Associates degree it will help out a TON when getting a job. You can go from the 10 dollar/hr bracket to almost double that. I have a 2 year degree and I'm a tech at intel and make about 19.70/hr once you figure in differencials. Plus killer benifits stock options and retirement.

Its tough to take the couple years but its worth it.

Try FedEx or UPS. They start off pretty good and there is lots opportunity for advancement. I work FedEx right now just for a little extra cash unloading trucks, and started at $11.79/hr.

Good luck!!!

Try to find a company called Del-jen full benifits for nothing, dental, life insurence, health insurence and awesome starting pay. you really should try that if they are in ur area. they have more than just warehouses incase u wanted to do something else.

Yep, get another partime job (maybe the warehouse route) and work on getting an associates or bachelors degree in some major that will teach you a skill that is in demand...

I went to school for computer science (software development)... Took me 4 years but I had descent jobs along the way to pay the bills...
Started at $35k per year and ended up making 93k per year, then I quit my job and started my on business and that can be unlimited loot per year, but the key thing is I know how to do alot of stuff... I learned some craft and exploited it.

Good luck... Also remember, attitude is almost everything!

UPS and fedex will WORK YOU LIKE A DOG, especially around this time of the year. Get a decent part time job, go to school part time, get yourself an education because nowadays an education takes you a lot farther than it did 30 years ago. I have my Bachelors in computer networking and I make a nice sum of money a year for a 22 year old. But UPS and fedex are almost always hiring, plus they have decent pay and VERY good benefits.

Personally, I would recommend staying away from the computer networking field for awhile. I have a degree in Network Administration, and the job market SUCKS. I make more money, and have a more promising future, managing at a grocery store than I would in networking. That's messed up.
