Custom air-inlet?

Alright so i came up with crazy idea... I have the RRM SRI intake, and i was wondering, if i cut the plastic insert out of the bumper, near the driver side fog light.. and ran a pipe (air duct) probably straight up to the intake, would it do any good? And does anyone know if this is remotely possible to do? Like is there room back there to fit a pipe about 2-3 inch in diameter all the way up to the intake... or am i wasting my time?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

It's not a crazy idea at all. It would be better if you ran the pipe driectly to your stock air box all I could see it doing with your SRI is getting rid of heat soak in the summer. IMO just get a CAI

Unfortunately, us auto guys can't use any of the available CAI's without major modification to the engine bay. Even then, it doesn't fit properly.

It'd probably be easier to put a vent in your hood, like one of those 6x9 carbon trix vents.

That exacly what I was considering doing. I like the look also - that one nostril to the side. Anyone know what keeps that vent from becoming a drain when it rains hard?

Sorry for the highjack

No worries, it's a forums, i'm not big on strictness.

I didn't get a CAI because I live in a town where the sewers overfill and lot and i find myself hitting puddles that are deeper than it looks, and the last thing i need is a straw for my engine to suck up water. But in lighter note, i want to try to make something that's similar to the heat sheild, but has a hose that leads to the front of the car for cold air to get into when i'm driving. So that when the intake sucks in air, it draws cold air instead of hot air from the engine compartment. I doubt i'm describing it right, but i'll try to make it sometime this winter and post pictures up on the net for you guys. My friend did it to his Civic Si, and on a Del Sol.
