Unhappy Torque steer...

Man, I am getting it bad. Esspecialy 2nd and 3rd in Mivec RPM's. She pulls every which way. Any one else having this problem? $800 USD is not an option right now for LSD.
Now, I do have winter tires on her right now... That prob isnt helping much.

LSD won't do anything for torque steer, if that's what it is. If one tire is breaking lose, then an LSD would help.
I get torque steer off of a WOT acceleration (auto, form a dead stop). That's about it. The wheel also jerks a bit when I light up one tire around a turn.

firmer motor mounts will help. WindoWeld method, or find out if the RA uses the same mounts as the other Lancers and get yours from Deyeme (just the front mount REALLY helped my wheel hop and torque steer)

Sorry to ask a dumb question... isn't torque steer caused by one wheel getting more power? How does a solid motor mount help stop it?

Maybe less torque steer is a side benefit of less wheel hop..... Going to some good summer tires when it warms up should help, too (I'm guessing that if the tires are too grippy to spin, then you won't have one tire break loose, so no torquesteer).... I don't know man- you wanted help, there it is. I don't have hard science as to why firmer mounts help torquesteer, look it up on the internet

It's quite a complicated problem. You will hear people talk about unequal length driveshafts, but it is more complicated than that. Where the tie rods connect, the hub design, the drive shaft design etc all affect torque steer. Torque steer only affects front wheel drive cars and generally only front wheel drive cars that are powerful. A 90 horsepower beater generally won't have torque steer, there just isn't enough power to force the steering wheel one way or the other. However, steering wheel jerking caused by one tire spinning is NOT torque steer. Torque steer happens when the tires are NOT spinning and you are trying to go straight. The steering wheel pulls to one side. It's not a big deal, it detracts a bit from the experience of doing a WOT acceleration, but it's not a big deal.

I'm quite happy with the amount of torque steer my RA has, after driving a DSM for so long. My Talon pulled to one side like crazy. The RA has almost no torque steer, comparatively.

Actually, if set correctly, an LSD will indeed help to cure torque steer. Torque steer, as the name implies, is caused by an imbalance of torque between the drive wheels that causes the vehicle to pull in one direction. An LSD is designed to keep torque even at both drive wheels, and thus helps alleviate torque steer problems.

exactly. I love the trq steer... and it's fun to feel/see it pull. I laughed @ my friend when he said his type-s get's torque steer. He told me, "you own a mitsu"... so i guess where even.
