Does anyone know if the J-spec MIVEC controllers (such as the ones for the 3000GT) will work on the US version, or is it pure speculation at this point?

That would only work if you don't mind staring at the CEL. Unfortunately, the ECU checks to see if the Mivec turns off below 3k rpm and turns on above 4k.

All it would take is a box that takes rpm readings, sends 0v to the right pin on the ECU below 3500rpm and +12v above 3500, and lets you switch on or off the ground from the oil control valve. That's a little beyond my electrical abilities.

it's not that simple.. you should read my thread about VTEC/MIVEC controllers and how they can't really get the correct fuel maps at the correct time..

they are pretty much unless compare to a good standalone

VTEC is from 4600 - 5400 yes on most USDM engines its 5200 rpm on some jdm motors its 4600 all depends on the motor...

Guess thats why Realtime Racing moves the switchover down to 4k on a stock cam, cause their "stupid"

on my 99 accord, i moved the vtec engagement to 3500 rpm, tuned the fuel maps and gain 10hp.. so it's not STUPID as stated

the switch over area's fuel map had issues as stated.. otherwise it runs great

That Vtec controller is compatible with Mivec. But 4G92 Mivec engines and later. These engines had the same setup for variable valve timing as Honda's Vtec. Does not work with the new Mivec because of the three valve profiles like the RSX i-Vtec.

Down here we have this thing called sarcasm. My point for those who have never been in the pressence of sarcasm is that a very sucessfull race team Realtime racing has been lowering the vtec switching point for years.

I really don't know about the Ralliarts that are out there but. I'm guess your MIVEC X-over would probably in the 4800 + range since the car redlines 6500. Yes you can lower the MIVEC point but the car will need to be tuned. To low of a MIVEC point will affect performance unless you have a cam that'll compensate for the lowered MIVEC X-over. As for Honda's VTEC It doesn't X-over until 5400+. In 5th gear until your at 95MPH you won't cross into VTEC. You can lower it lower but you need a cam and a VTEC or for MIVEC, a MIVEC controller. A good one that I know will work is the Fields VAFC which was meant for VTEC and MIVEC. BTW MIVEC and VTEC does not consume that much more gas. What consumes more gas is the RPM that you're shifting at.

i love how the honda fan boys think that intake/header/exhaust/port and polish/vtec controller will magically shave 3 FULL SECONDS off their 1/4 mile

you be lucky to shave 1.5 to 2 seconds guy
