I do think that half tread makes a difference (in a bad way) on your dyno run. I turned 144.67hp and 148.99lbs in 4th. I know the cai and piggyback on your car are making more power than that. I'm not saying you should waste BFG drag radials on a dyno but grip does matter. Have you run any 1/4's yet Blk?

Good #'s that are really better than they are!!

yea, new tires are my next big buy. no runs at the track yet, but im planning on going soon. there is one pretty close, just havnt had time to make it out. they have open drag 2x every week for like $20. im gussing mid 14's if i can get my launch down. and if i run on the right lane. the left lane has a dip =)

what i did /w my pics was just take a pic /w a digital cam. if u only have a camcorder, u need a firewire cable to get the high8 vids off.

It's called propaganda. I called bullsh!t on that a while back. It's good gains, but not what they advertise. As you will soon see in life, you don't have to be the best to sell the most. Look at AOL and Dell. crap in the industry, but outselling everyone. Good marketing goes a long way.

advertising sucks, but was rrm saying whp or flywheel?? i wonder what hp they tested?? but regardless the ecu, downpipe and exhaust should give you more hp.

Dyno runs should all be taken in whatever gear gives you a 1:1 (or closest to it) ratio. As for advertised gains with a piggy back? Well the usual formula for manufactuers advertised gains should be used here - take whatever figure THEY say and divide it by two *L*

Exactly, I thought you dyno run your car in the strongest pull, which would be our 3rd gear.

Also RRM says 30whp from I/E/ECU.

Unfortunately that's not the way it works - to get the truest reading of a car's actual wheel horsepower, dyno runs must be made in whatever gear is closest to 1:1. For the Ralliart, this is 4th gear which has a 1.03:1 ratio. Here's a complete list:

1st 3.58:1
2nd 1.95:1
3rd 1.38:1
4th 1.03:1
5th 0.82:1

Final drive ratio is 4.04:1

Also RRM says 30whp from I/E/ECU.
Divide by 2

There wasn't much difference between 3rd and 4th gear pulls on mine. 3rd gear:146.04hp/146.59lbs, 4th gear: 144.67hp/148.99lbs. Both with 3200miles and slightly underinflated tires 28-29psi. Virtually no diffence in hp accross the graph but about 5lbs more in 4th untill 4600rpm where they evened up untill 5500 where both(hp&TQ) dropped off by about 10. So much for the 3rd cam profile huh? Who needs a shift light now?
I think it'll be easier to borrow my brother's digital cam this coming weekend and take shots of my now crinked up sheet. On the plus side, at least my nephews got to see a real R34 out at Adrenaline, even if they'll probably blow the cool factor by talking about it nonstop!

sorry if this is a little bit off topic..but im getting my car dynoed too next week (feb 2nd) at ModaCar in Livermore, CA..il post the results when i do it. i wanna see how much power i can get from the downpipe, Injen CAI and the 2.5 inch cat back..by the way..those were pretty impressive numbers black majik..my friends were surprised with the torque!! i will take videos and pictures when the car gets dynoed!

First gear pulls harder than second, second pulls harder than third, third pulls..... etc...

What are you talking about? You have to tell the dyno the gear ratio. It doesn't matter what gear, it calculates it. You just get less drivetrain loss when you use the gear that is closest to 1:1 ratio.

i remember when these numbers came out. no one was sure of the stock whp. They assumed the following. The engine is stock rated at like 165hp. there is about 20% drivetran loss. THat would give about 135hp. this is a typical general assumption used by lots of people and it is pretty accurate, most of the time. According to that, its a diff of 30whp. is it right? i dunno, but who am i to judge. dont shop according to 'gain', just worry about the result.

Front wheel drive cars generally only suffer 15% drive train loss because there is no drive shaft to add to the list of rotational inertia. As such, 145 whp on a Ralliart would mean 175-180 horsepower at the crank

Damn I must have a tuesday car! I think the manuals aren't dropping quite 15%. I hope not anyway. It'd be nice to say I have 175@ the crank though... I swear it's bone stock and only 3100 miles and pulled 146 in 3rd. 4th was little lower but TQ was up. I really need to get a scanner...
