If you could please keep on updating us on this fix, hopefully it will work so I can get a downpipe without worrying about my CEL and crap. I really hope this works so I can start my modding again. Thanks for all your info thus far

As long as you have a good drill bit, I'd say it takes 1min to drill the hole. Then just drive your car up some ramps or be ghetto like me and park it half-way on the street/driveway so you can get under it. It takes another 5min(?) to unscrew and replace with the foulers. That's it!!! Real easy.

BAD news guys... I just hit 3,200 miles on the CEL fix, and my light came on today!!!

I'm going to reset and see if I can go another few thousand. At least it's better than the 100-300 miles I was getting without the fix.

That's funny (well not ha-ha funny) but I was looking through a friends JEG'S catalog and guess what they had for sale. A O2 sensor simulator! They didn't have a Mitsu specific one just a "imports" but it was around $40 and it looked like a plug in so you wouldn't have to cut/drill anything like that. I'm not positive that it will work on ours but I figured I'd throw it out there anyways in case someone wants to follow up on it. I don't have any plans to go catless on my RA anytime soon anyway.

Ok, this is weird. After about 50 more miles, the light went back off and now I'm at 3,800 miles with NO CEL?!

$46 at jegs and you can get a Caspers 02 simulator for imports with 1 sensor (yes I know we have 2 but you only sim 1 right?) It comes with a harness and everything you need. Just plug and play guys. I'm not ******* the DIY simulator, I'm just trying to help out. It might be a more permanent fix for some folks.

I haven't used it personally but hey if they're selling, it should work.

so i'm getting the down pipe soon and i was just wondering exactly what the fowler is. i've never heard of this thing, so i'm just wondering what it is and what it's doing (besides the obvious answer of 'simulating the o2 sensor').

also, why exactly does the downpipe make the cel come on? does it remove the cat when it's installed?

sorry for the newbish questions, just wanna know more about it before i get it.
cheers.

It's a simple resistence, that return a .5 to 4.5 volts signal , if you remove it, the pcm have open circuit with O2 and make CEL light appear

You can but simple resistance( you have to know the correct value) and conect it, but it's more easy to but the little parts(don't know the name) and plug it...it's full plug and play....

I did the cel fix and my light came on 2 times already, currently at the 2nd time, usually happens after about 500-800 miles. i checked and rechecked everything, all bolts tight, sensors are good. . .i dunno whats up.

It worked for quite some time for me... but now it's done... The fix isn't working anymore... so I'm going to have a hi-flow catalytic converter welded into the DP probably sometime in the near future!!!
