so you see stuff like ralliart packing the 2.4, whereas in japan, its a different
market for (regular) lancers.

The US Outlander has the same 2.4 Mivec as the Ralliart but with the 4spd Sportronic auto....so go get a wrecked Outlander and swap the auto trans....I plan to do that as soon as I found one...

All auto tranny have a secondary ecu . . . I'm assuming the tip-tronic does have one too.

If the wire harness to the tip-tronic has the same block pattern, I don't see why not. The ecu uses the secondary tranny ecu as a check and balance.

Best bet about tip-tronic info would be look at the 3g eclipse. There should be tons of them on the road . . . not suggesting getting their tranny.

Like I said before though it is only a 4 speed auto, you should try to get the 5 speed.

I think there is a 5-spd in Japan (only) using the INVEC-3 system, but I think it's a CVT system.

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/d...er/press1.html

http://www.pakda.com/pakda2001/cedia_spec.html
gear ratio on the CVT in another language, but you can clearly tell the ratios.

The 5 spd version was for the FTO.

http://www.angelfire.com/emo/fto/2nd_hand.html

"Under the wild-looking exterior, the FTO is actually based on the mild-mannered Galant platform, therefore has a transversely mounted motor that drives to the front wheels through either the not-so-common five-speed manual gearbox or the dual-mode INVECS-Il automatic transmission, Mitsubishi's version of Porsche's Tiptronic gearbox. The INVEC S-li gearbox is a computer-controlled four-speed unit on pre-'98 models and a five-speed thereafter that can be used either as a fully automatic self-shifter, or as a sequential semi-auto. A limited-slip differential is standard in post-'97 GP Version R models and was optional on earlier models except for some 'limited build' variants."

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/derryl/FTO/

Gear ratio for the INVECS-2 5 spd auto.

I just wish they gave out the tranny code. It would cut R&D by 1/3 the effort.

I know ours is probally faster, but the little things like the seats, steering wheel, gauges, and HID's it looks like
