eek! tail light question

So just the other day someone bumped into my car in a parking lot, they hit me on my drivers side tail light and now the 1 of the red lenses inside the tail light has popped off and is hanging loose inside the tail light! Does anyone know if I can open up the casing and pop it back in? or do I need to replace it?

I think you would have to take the entire taillight housing out to pop it back in. From what I know about it, the best way is to heat it up in the oven so that it will be flexible enough to pop back in without breaking any of the plastic.

TRy taking it to the dealer first you may be able to get a new one. If that doesn't work thre is a video on here somewhere on how to take them apart.
Involves a heat gun and a dremel tool.

If it doesn't look damaged other then the red part fell down inside I would take it back to the dealer and say it was defective. Should be under the 3600 mile bumper to bumper.

Yeah, try for warranty first. If that doesn't work, you may have to bake it.

DUH, I don't know why I didn't think to go to the dealer first. That's what happens when I read so many DIY's on here. I start to forget the simple stuff first.

I'll ask at the dealer first, but the outside plastic has slowly gotten a white spot over where it was hit, like a flex mark in the plastic, so I doubt they'll cover it under warranty.

If they want me to buy I new one I'll be serving up baked tail light.
