Clutch/Shifter Problems Anyone?

So the car has about 26,000 miles. This happens every once in awhile and I cant figure out why. Ill be driving my car, not hard or anything, just normal driving and when I go to shift gears it takes all my weight to get it in. As if there is something blocking the gearbox or something. But its strange cause it will just go away after like 20 mins of that bs. Sometimes its not as hard as others, sometimes it will just sound real notchy. Like you can actually hear it making noises or where it goes in and stops and then fully goes in.. I have the clutch all the way in, no doubt about it. I cant think of what it is. I heard of someone on here having problems with the syncros? Not sure if that has anything todo with it. Maybe im out of clutch fluid, but I just got the car inspected, wouldnt they check that? My friend said my clutch might need to be tightened? I do drive my car hard, but not all the time. I dont dump the clutch at all really, I have a few times..but nothing like at 5500 or anything. I am going to get my car checked out, but unfortunately the dealer in my area closed down.. So I have to find out where the closest one would be in my area.. But does anyone have any ideas what might be the problem, just a heads up before I actually get it looked it..Any thoughts would be helpful?

Yes Im pushing the clutch in all the way..If it was something so simple as that I wouldnt be posting.

As for the fluids : If I got my car inspection and all that wouldnt they check all my fluids to make sure they are full? See its strange cause it doesnt do it all the time. Sometimes it does it while im just driving to work..Not driving hard at all..And when it happens. Ill let the clutch in and out, in and out and then try and put it in gear and it will still have the same problem. I cant really describe it, its not that the gear wont go, its that the shifter wont move. I have done no mods to my shifter at all. Anyone who knows what there talking about want to chime in?

If I ever have troubles like that, I release the clutch again. I find this alot with shifting into 1st, so I just always double clutch it into 1st.

First gear has no snycro so yes you will need to double clutch or rev match to get it to go in nice.

RalliartJP, I would take it in. It's not a problem that will be easily fixed. Sounds like a syncro problem but could be worse.

It's under warranty, go to the dealership. The only problem I've had with shifting/clutching is that my clutch pedal squeeks and sticks a little, and I'm going to take it to the dealership and make them fix it.

Yes, it does have a synchro on 1st. It's just not very good.

Here's the pic from the manual, just so you don't think I'm yanking your chain.

i have this problem with getting into reverse.. it'll go into reverse half way.. then i'd have to put it back in to neutral then toss it into first with the clutch down still and immediately shift into reverse with heavy weight on it... happens a lot to me, like 4-5 times a week

I just thought it was because i'm a small kid and maybe it takes a lot to get into reverse sometimes...

I beleive the brakes and clutch share the same fluid resevior. So chances are, if your not having brake issues, your fluid is good. Its an easy check though.

if it doesn't go in the first time, i let the clutch out and push it down again (double clutching without going to neutral) and it usually works

If you haven't checked allready, look underneath the car and see if any of your linkage is loose or if the brackets are loose. I had that problem with my Laser and after lots of head scratching and misdiagnosis, the plate finally came completely loose and I had NO gears at all! I couldn't find a single one untill I looked under the hood, saw the linkage bracket on the tranny was flopping around, tightened the F*** out of it (engine swap mechanic did a lousy job) this time and everything worked fine untill the engine went kaput. If it's not your linkage being either loose or kinked somewhere, it has to be out of synch for it to not go into gear like you're describing. If you haven't replaced the clutch, then perhaps you have a defective tranny... Hope this helps you out!

Im getting my car looked at on Saturday..So hopefully they will find a problem and fix it. Ive done so many different methods with it. Turning the car off and back on..Pushing the clutch in and out and then trying to put it in gear..Any gear for that matter..It doesnt happen all the time, but when it does happen, its bad...It either doesnt happen for awhile, or it starts to happen alot every once in awhile and then stops for awhile. Its strange...Sometimes Im scared to even force it into gear cause I have to put so much pressure on it.. And I mean alot of pressure.. But anyway, Ill keep you guys posted.
