Actually, what I did was buy and install the RRM stainless line, and took apart the restrictor afterwards. Once I saw that all I would have had to do was take out a couple pieces of plastic and two springs, I decided to post pics and maybe save someone else some money.

BTW: I think I saw on another thread somewhere that some guys believed it was not a good thing to remove the restrictor. I did a search on that but I couldn't find anything... Does anyone have a (technically sound) opinion on this? I'm still not 100% certain what the restrictor is supposed to accomplish, so I just can't figure this one out by myself...

The restrictor is in there to keep you from dumping your clutch, and breaking drivetrain parts. I'm sure Mitsu put it in there to keep the number of drivetrain warranty repairs down.
The downside of that is, if you know what you're doing with a clutch and are simply trying to make a quick gear change, you can't. The clutch doesn't engage fast enough, and you end up burning the clutch disc or hot-spotting the flywheel and/or pressure plate.

Does that mean that if for any reason my feet slips from the pedal and I drop the clutch, there's a strong possibility of damage? Hmmmmm... Suddenly I'm a bit less tempted by this mod.

Okay... my example was a bit extreme, but what I meant is that there might be an increased risk of my car being damaged... and me having to pay for the damage. Since I don't happen to have 1500$ lying around in case I screw-up and destroy the drivetrain, I'm a bit hesitant to go ahead with the mod.
But does the RRM line come with it's own restrictor, let's you keep the existing one or is to be installed without one? I figure that if the RRM line doesn't use the restrictor, it's probably not a big risk not to use one... these guys wouldn't risk major damage to our cars, that would be quite bad for their reputation.

if you are experienced driving manual, you shouldn't have any issues..
the restrictor probably frustrues you more than it helps in that case
but if you are a new / fairly new manual driver, keep it

Well, I think you just provided me with a good reason why I should go ahead and do this... since I've been driving sporty MT cars since 1990. I think you're quite right about the frustrating effet: I hate the cold hopping really bad... and my gf (who drives the RA a lot) complains about it a bit too often herself.
Ah what the hell! I'll get my brother to come by and give me a hand and we'll take the thing out! I'll let you guys know how it went and what difference it does...

If you're experienced with MT cars and you know how to be nice to your tranny, then the only thing this mod will do for you is make your clutch last longer. If you're inexperienced with MTs, I still recommend this mod, because it'll help you learn how to properly drive a MT. Just remember to go easy on the clutch!! Dumping is bad!

Now, it will sound ridiculous to those of you who've already done that many times, but what do I have to know to get the job right? For example, how do you go about bleeding a clutch line? And what kind of fluid does the clutch use? If it's DOT, I know I'll have to use extra care so I don't strip the paint off the car...

There's a good how-to in the how-to section. You'll need a 10mm line wrench (aka flare nut wrench) to get the stock line off, and a 12mm wrench to get the restrictor off the tranny. Fluid is Dot4 (I got the stuff that exceeds dot 3 and 4 standards, so I had the bases covered). Bleeding it is easy (in the how-to), just make sure you do it thoroughly.
It's pretty easy to do, just need a buddy to pump the clutch for you.
