Having the ability to lock up your tires on packed snow will stop you faster than ABS will. It's been proven time and again.

On PACKED snow? It's true on new, fluffy snow, but I have never heard of packed snow. By packed snow, I assume you mean hard snow that is still white, but hard and slippery like ice?

No, I'm talking about snow that's no longer fluffy, but can pile up in front of a locked tire and stop the car.

OK, so soft snow that's still squishy? And true, stopping on snow works better than pavement with sheen on it.
