i think my paint is chipping off :(

i was looking at my hood today after work and noticed tiny silver spots right above the mitsu emblem, on the part of the hood that goes into like a pointed area, and it looks like the paint is gone. theres maybe a 1mm drop where the paint is chipping, its like literally gone gone, u see silver of the hood, and i have a black car. anyone know what could have been a cause and what to do to fix it? pics coming 2morrow.

It happens man, doesn't bother me. I think I did the same thing when I noticed chips on mine.

Do you have any pics of it? I remember mine being very noticeable. The lancer just has a very horrible paint job.

I have an 02 lancer, and I've pretty much given up on how easily the paint chips. I still take great care of the car (washing and waxing) but you can only get so frustrated with something before you just don't care anymore. I have at least a dozen little chips on the front of my car from road debri, not to mention a half dozen of them on the doors from idiots in parking lots.

Mitsubishi paint sucks.

Paint chipping because of rocks happens quite often on most cars. Even on my civic I had quite a few but there's not much you can do, especially if you drive on the highway alot . I just saw an Audi the other day that must have had at least 40 chips on the front bumper and hood that looked like they came from rocks.

You can't get away without rock chips unless your car never moves.

I've got a few nasty ones some right by my headlights all the way down to steel

It's the paint. On my original hood I had chips all along the front edge AND back edge of the hood (rock chips on the BACK edge?!) Needless to say, I crashed, messed up my hood and it was replaced so I think the new paint is better than Mitsu's. I do have some chips along the edge of my trunk that I need to touch up, it's mostly just the edges that have problems, I think.

Yhea, Mitsu paint is crap, always has been.

Watch the area around your window seals too, the black painted areas. Mine have been rusting up nicely near the rubber now for 2 years. I good coat of touch up paint will slow the inevitable, but still, these cars will chip and rust very easily.

Yeah mines got a few on the hood also. Doesn't sound like they are as bad as what you have but not cool anyways.
