Side note: 20 mph and the airbags didn't go off? My second collision after I started hydroplaning sent me head first into the median at over 50 mph and no deployment either. Anyone else have an accident where the bags should have gone off? Something to think about, anyway.
Median as in the concrete center piece or a side rail? In any case, if you spun into the median, or if it was just a curb median, then the airbags shouldn't have gone off. Only front end crashes straight into something solid will deploy the airbags. Rollovers, rear ends etc won't do it. Spinning into something won't do it.

yea I can speak that if you don't drive straight in that median you'll be fine with the airbags.

25ish dead on into a telephone pole.. no airbags...

I'm kinda worried about the airbags.. what DOES it take to set them off? The shop, and the cops were shocked the airbags didn't go off with the telephone pole hit.

Airbags are overengineered enough to make your head spin. An airbag failing to go off once every 10,000 crashes would be incredible. If the bag didn't go off, it wasn't supposed to go off, trust me on this.

Yeah, basically, if you didn't get hurt or received MINOR injuries, then it's not ment to go off.

From what I've seen, people actually get slightly injured from the bag itself exploading into your face/chest. My mom got a black eye from hers and complained of chest pains for weeks, but it sure beats slamming into the steering wheel!!!

By median, I mean the 3'-4' high white wall that separates the Northbound form the Southbound lanes. Anyway, I'm fine so it doesn't matter.

well for the being what u think...i hit a raock and my airbags deployed. It wouldnt of caused me any injuries if they didnt go off. The only reason i got burned was because of the airbags

***UPDATE***

My estimate came in at $5200 and 2-3 weeks to fix it. They already started pulling the front end apart.

NO CF hood!!! Reason being is that State Farm only approved OEM repairs, and believe it or not, hood + paint is only $400.

In case you guys are interested, here are what some of our parts cost:
____________________
$464 - front bumper
$231 - front bumper reinforcement
$78 - front bumper impact bar
$51 - left grill
$51 - right grill
$19 - license plate bracket
$17 - mitsu emblem
____________________
$267 - (1) front headlamp!!!
____________________
$300 - hood
____________________
$598 - radiator
$286 - radiator support
____________________
$666 - A/C condensor
$55 - A/C fan shroud

Yeah...I thougth that was pretty weird to.

Hey Retro, call the shop and see if they can order you a CF hood - you pay the difference but have them bill it out as a OEM. Is that possible do you think?
