RA / 3000GT SL comparison

Well dunno why but I decided to check out a street racing forum. I know we can't talk about street racing here but so I won't. Some 3000gt owner called the RA a sorry excuse for a car and somehow......he struck a nerve . I so created a logon over there and started an argument but I didn't make us RA guys loook bad. He said he has raced several RA's (where are there several all in one place?) and decimated them. Dunno how that is possible but I tried to make a point and got ganged up on by the 3000gt fanboys. The best is when he said if his car was as slow as an RA he would throw it in the lake. hahah

the 3000gt is a big engine (3.0L, i guess its not that big...) on a bigger car. it can go failry fast in a straight line, but even with AWD, I think the RA will smoke it on a road, autox or dirt course. it weighs too much and the brakes suck. they suck so bad that they cant even do a 6hr road course without boiling off all the brake fluid! but it does take quite a lot of stopping power to stop such a fat tank. and the base model 3kgt /w that big bad engine still only has a tad more hp/tq than the RA, but much more weight. we would toast it. if you want an old rustbucket mitsu thats slammed with problems, get a starion not a 3kgt. i like the cars over all, but i would take my RA for what I want to do any day of the week. and in all honesty, if i were forced to get a 3si, i would take the stealth over the 3000gt any day.

Not sure but isn't the stealth also plagued with problems?

It would be plagued with problems cause all over the car is the mitsubishi logo. Engine, window, radio etc. My stealth had a sprung berring and a thrown road but meh.

The 3kgt SL is also not awd like stated above. SL is the NA fwd jsut like the Stealth ES. They have like 222 hp or something like that. And is heavy as sin. But I am not sure what a RA Lancer runs but a NA stealth and 3kgt run mid 15's and turbos depending on year run anywhere from a 13.5-14.2. They quoted my Stealth to run a 14.2 for a 92 R/T TT and I ran a 14.0 stock with 80k miles on it so it wasn't too bad.

Don't waste your time arguing with him in the first place. Or just point out he is a loser for buying a downgraded 3Kgt. He can't say you downgraded with a RA rather than an Evo. Two totally different cars. His isn't.

A 3000GT/Stealth isn't worth crap unless it's the twin turbo model. The Stealth R/T's are a blast to drive, though, and would whoop on the RA. A RA would beat a base model, though.

Well I had a 3000gt base. And yea it was slow. But by no means was it a crappy car. It was a nice car to cruise in but not exactly fast. And it is better built then da RA. However, if its a straight race I would say the RA.

3000gt SL is slow, for a car that looks fast anyway, The twin turbo is really fast. This guy is just talking smack tell him they should put an ow after the sl to be fully honest.

I have never raced a 3kgt but I did race a nissan 300zx (N/A 222hp version). I believe those weigh less then a 3kgt, and I beat that guy. I wouldn't worry to much about it. Any one who said they have beat a car a whole bunch of times is normaly full of it. There just arn't that many RAs around and the only car I can say that I have beat a whole bunch of times is the civic si, but I quit racing them because its just not worth my time. All the other cars I win some and I lose some.

Yes, my 99 VR4 TT is slow, and you will probably win in an RA.

He's saying his is slow because the turbos are blown. You will win against a base 3000GT/Stealth, however, a VR-4/ or R/T (stealth) will beat on you badly.
