Since I don't race AND I have an auto, IMO i'de rather have the low end "kick" than a few extra horses up high I may try the SRI for a couple weeks, then go back to stock and see the difference. It will only get worse in the hot summer

Well if you are interested in selling your SRI give me a holla.

No problem, i'll give it a chance though. I will probably keep it anyway, it does sound sweet. BTW I put in the sway bar today, it makes a HUGE difference. All the rear end roll is gone. It is much flatter in turns and curves. More than worth it.

did you leave on the front part of the stock intake with your short ram? seems like the cold air coming from the outside would blow right into the filter giving in more force and a lower temp. Might want to try that

It won't fit that way on our cars. The filter is in the way. Unless you modify it yourself, the plastic piece will not fit. I saw the evo guys had done that and was going to try it, but it didn't fit.

You don't have to saw the box off, the plastic piece comes of the box unit, but the long section of that plastic piece is too long to fit, it hits the new filter with the SRI. You could saw off the plastic, but if you're like me, you realize that anytime you might need service you have to go back to stock. So I wouldn't recommend sawing the plastic.

i was working on my car today, and when the rad fan kicked in, the heat from the rad was so much that i doubt the stock air scope is going to help you any..

But I would think the stock scoop would be better than nothing at all. I think I've finally decided to go with the SRI over the CAI. I plan on trying ot use the stock air scoop if at all possible and at some point in time I'll probably go with RRM's cf hood.

You might want to look into RMR's SRI... I know that uses the factory "air scoop"... I've seen it installed on the 02-03 Lancer's & they list it for the Ralliart, but don't know about fitment & haven't heard of anyone using them...

EDIT: Actually I looked & they only list it as Lancer 02+... I don't think it'd fit the Ralliart's engine bay!!!

I know for a fact that it won't fit without alteration, you would have to cut the scoop piece near the end where it would normally connect to the stock air box that holds the filter in order for it to fit right. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless either a) they are not under warranty anymore, or b) they already have another scoop in hand. Reason being and I've said this in a previous thread, most of us can't go to the dealership with an aftermarket intake on, so you would have to go back to stock, or as close as you can and with a cut scoop tube, you wouldn't be able to do that. But to each their own.

If you want to use the factory air scoop, why don't you just buy the K&N drop-in?!?! Just save all the factory hardware and block the holes with old socks or saran wrap and bring it out when it's service time. IF you want cold air induction... you have to route the air in from outside the engine bay. The factory "scoop" draws air from right in front of the radiator anyways, so go buy a 2 piece CAI and expect to spend about an hour converting it back to stock before service. The only mod you have to make then is removing the air box bracketry and the vertical splash guard "underneath" the battery. Trust me, with enough practice you'll have it done in under an hour everytime you need to revert to stock. It only took 20 minutes to install the SRI on mine before I installed the bottom section of the CAI. Yes that includes removing the stock components and installing the sensor into the SRI. Having all the required tools before you start cuts out about an hour of searching and screaming... I installed the INJEN 2 piece btw. I hope this helps, I'm not slamming anyone's choices, I just can't see why you wouldn't want the flexability of a 2 piece.
