SRI > CAI
Get the injen CAI. If you dont like it, take the bottom half of it off and it's a SRI.
I live in Utah and thats what I did for the winter. I noticed a bit more low end torque with the CAI, but this was only when I have the AEM bypass valve OFF. with the bypass valve on the CAI felt very much like the SRI.
I agree with what others have said about SRI being more practical for the much bigger HP cars, there are a number of reasons that make them so - but for ours, at least my impression was that there was a very noticeable difference between running my injen CAI as an SRI (the lower half removed) and the full CAI with no bypass valve.

now jog in place witha paper towel roll on your mouth in a heated room and then stand next to your window with that tube and even if you want another paper towel roll with it to simulate more tubing and stick it out the window with fresh air and jog some more... lets see ur endurance. yes the tube is longer but overall its colder air. in the begining jogging in place with a short tube is fine untill the room heats up and ur temp goes up.
LOL , ^^^^^ hold on , im gonna go get my speedo^^^^^^ LOL.
man it sure is a touchy subject , i geuss diffrent strokes for diffrent folks.
but i still think sri with vented hood and your good to go.

ok , so SRI with vented hood. Thats a great idea !!!! (sarcasm is great!)So whats the $$$ total come down to if you buy the hood AND the SRI? It doesnt justify it. Now heres an interesting detail that hopefully will put all the debate to rest :
The CAI generates what 1hp less , but at least its consistent, the same cant be said about the SRI. Why? Cause hot air and your engine dont get along and the FACT is that the CAI keeps sending cooler air to the engine when compared to the air the SRI sends after you run the car a while. Sure you can get a vented hood , but like i said before you're just better of buying a CAI and if you're worried about floods just buy it with the bypass valve.
Edit: please dont go into: "oh , so what if i get a heat shield" , cause unless you make one , NO company currently makes a SRI with the heat shield.

Coincidentally, none of these SRIs has a heat shield. The CAIs in the comparison on the other hand, tend to retain their HP much better, even though they generated less on their best run vs. the SRI equivelent (for example, the Ingen SRI generated 144.1HP, their CAIs generated 140.4 and 143.7. This is consistent with all product lines in this comparison).

I bought the aem sri, it uses the factory air dam to get cold air to the filter, it comes with a braket and all. I was reading one of the Import mags over the weekend (can't remember which one, I grabed a stack at Barnes and Noble and sat and read while drinking coffee.) and on a wheel dyno, SRI made less hp than CAI but didn't lose low end tourqe like the CAI's seem to.
