I know ... it sucks... they find any excuse to charge you for warranty work... It makes me so upset... to the point where I decided not to mod my car anymore... if I buy any parts it will be for looks only ... no performance mods... exhuast was enough to sour me over.

Ok....so back onto topic here. The cat's not blown....but what is that sound then? Is it really the flex pipe? Because it sounded like the cat may be damaged....I just wasn't sure.

brakes, clutch, etc.. that are "wear and tear" parts (like the cat) is not covered under warranty

It could easily just be a loose heat shield that's rattling, or a rock inside a heat shield. Get your car up on jackstands, crawl underneath, and shake the pipe around to find the actual source of the noise.

Lately, I've noticed that I got a funny smell after driving in higher RPM's for a period (maybe a few minutes - between 5-10) and I've also noticed that I hear a sound coming from under the car (around where the cat is situated) if I close my door a little harder then normal. Sounds kinda like dropping alot of pins in a tin can.

Is ANY of that normal??

Flick the cat with something (your finger, or a stick or something). ANY rattling and your cat is gone.

Maybe not plugged, but if it rattles, the honeycomb is broken up and it's not doing anything anymore. Plus, when the honey comb breaks up, it usually melts into a lump and does eventually plug up. A cat can be ruined in 2 minutes if a car misfires too much.

jack up one side of the car, use a broom handle and then just poke at the exhaust pipe when the car is on..

you should be able to pinpoint the source of the rattling

If the car was misfiring wouldn't you also notice that?? And whats the likelyhood of that happening on a new car w/o any ECU mods done?

Joe, I'll do that when I put the new wheels on Friday.
