you mean racecams? what they use in nascar and other events like that? those are small and light but expensive. you can google race cam to find out more if you want. but its probably more practical to just set up your own camcorder on maybe the bolts on the rear deck lid or strapped onto a rollcage.

There was someone in here that set his camera up on a tripod, wedged two of the tripod legs into the rear doors, and the third leg into the rear seat cushion somehow. Worked pretty well, from the videos I saw.

Best Buy sells a really small video camera that is supposed to be used for sports. Let me see if I can find it for you.

This camera has a portable module that you plug into the main camera that works kinda like those helmet cams you see on TV that players have and the refs sometimes have on their hats.

I searched around, and i remember there was a post about a link with pictures on how to set up a tripod..

http://www.nepthys.com/artofrally/tripod.html

There it is.. now the problem is find a tripod small enough and with the near to 180 degrees angling... and the money to buy it.. I had one like that setup that i borrowed from my school, worked amazingly.. I just never got the chance to make a movie out of the footage.

^^If you cannot find a tripod like the one he uses to brace in the door......I set mine up by stuffing 2 of the legs in the seat cushions and the 3rd extended tight to the floorboard next to the center console. Works well. Shore it up with the seat belts, too.
Here is some test footage on a really rough road (watch out for the bulldozer!!!): http://www.dcwebproductions.net/e2lvid.wmv

You can go to www.chasecam.com and find a camera mount for just about any budget and application. They also sell the small cameras that mount on them but they're pretty expensive and need a seperate recorder. All the mounts they sell will fit a standard camera or camcorder. I have the deluxe mount (6 cups and a universal arm) and my only complaint is that the RA suspension is too stiff for really fast stuff. The mount itself is rated to 200mph!!! I've had it over 100mph with no adhesion problems myself (mounted to top of front fender and slightly leaned out). I do recommend the tether cord just in case though. Hope this helps, they were the cheapest and best around.

Yea, you could go the route of getting a small handheld camera, or get one of these spy cameras and mounting them in your car. It gives you the ability to mount more than one camera in different locations. (bumper, outside sideskirt, dash, pedals) They are pretty cheap too. I've seen them use these on MTV for in-car shots.

get the chasecam with the 4-to-1 multiplexer and use a standard VCR with a power invertor

you can have 4 views on one tape
