That can't be right. I don't drink like a maniac but I certainly go over 3500 RPMs fairly often and my Ralliart isn't burning any oil. Ciclon1, use your warrenty and have a dealer track it down.

MIVEC doesn't run or not run, it's always running you could say, waiting to switch profiles when needed. You're saying the upper profiles burn oil? I don't know much about how engines in general or ours in particular work, but I'm extremely skeptical that that's the case in a properly running engine.

What exactly makes you believe that our engines are designed to burn oil?

mivec uses oil pressure to run thats why if you have fairly low oil mivec wont kick in

ok ok , thank you all
lets see My mivec kik's in at all time's went it call's for it , That is not the problem, The problem I have is that The oil dip has two hols MAX and MIN , My oil leve is below half and I put 3K from last oil change , I do Drive fast , ok very fast , lest not talk speed becuase the forum dosen't like the high numbers, I drive two work 150 miles daly from my house to work and back, I down shift a lot and I do spet on gas hard....... I was always told that all cars in general including bran new cars do burn a bit off oil, but I think this is a bit to much , so I will do like no1v2 said and have the dealer look at it .
thank you all

Our engine uses a bit of oil, it's normal (mentions it in the manual, I believe). I change my oil every 6k miles, and I check it around 3k, and I usually have to add about 1/4 of a qt (at most).

Just check your oil a bit more often and keep it topped off and you should be alright.

During autocross school I kept my engine in the red for about 4 of the 7 hours I was at school (and part of that 7 hours was a 1 hour lunch). When I checked the oil afterward I was about 1/2 qt low.
I haven't had any oil consumption issues, so I'm left to believe it's the high RPM driving.

Take it easy out there cowboy

I noticed that mine burns about a half a quart every 5k+ miles. I switched to synthetic, so I don't know if it has changed at all.

Ok , I just got back from the dealer, I was told that some manufactor find perfectly correct if a car burns a 1 Qt of oil every 1K, I find this a bit crazy , My car has burn 1 qt in 5 K and not 3 K like I mention before ( sorry for the wrong info) any ways the service manager said the 1 Qt every 5 K is perfectly fine not to worry ........
