Is MIVEC oil or mechanical controlled?
Reading up on some more VVT information, I remember awhile back a member said it was mechanical controlled, but I read on a site that it was oil controlled, so which one is it? If oil controlled, could not having an oil change effect the performance of MIVEC in the high cam phase?
oil afects performance alright... but do this little exersise...
look at the engine frontwise...
disconect the second plug at the end of the camshft.. and voila mivec no more.....
and if youre into grinding:
the frontmost plug is the one controling the cam perse.. so openup the holes of the bolts and there is your cam adjustment tried and tested works like a charm
that was free advise

Doing this doesn't hurt the engine right? And it'll help to improve the mpg above 75mph, right?
look at the link i posted.. the two red circles are the adjusters..... the plug on the right of it is the one controling mivec.... never disconect that to run the car because it wont go pass 5kprm

Thanks. Is it the one that I circled in green?
I don't go above 5k very often, so that's not much of a concern. But I drive on the fwy a lot, and it's really hard keeping it under 75mph to keep MIVEC from kicking in. If diconnecting that cord helps me gain a few mpg, it's worth it for me.
