Anyone with airbags in their seats?

I just got aftermarket seats and my brackets and I just realized something. If I have airbags in my seat and I replace them with aftermarket ones my SRS light will come on. Anyone know if there is a way to deactivate those airbags all together? I still want the one in the steering wheel and passanger side I just don't want them in the seats.

you would need to fool the sensor somehow, were there wires going into the stock seat? probably something to do with em.

Or possibly a fuse? I'm not sure if that would trip the light though...

Exactly what poca said, but I think you are gonna have the infamous "always on" SRS light, same as if somebody put on an aftermarket steering wheel.

We do this on the stage where i work with out Computer controlled lighting to fake out the system.... It may also work with the airbag...
Try taking the wire going to the airbag and disconnect it, then cut the wire harness from the airbag and make a loop the wire so it goes back through itself. If you get lucky it will think the circuit is completed. We call them Dumby Plugs....
I did the best of my ability to ilustrate what i am talking about... Sorry from the crudeness and lack of real pictures

I was looking at the ESM and its looking like there is an on and off position for all airbags. I will call Mitsubishi about this tomorrow morning and let all of you know.

I saw part numbers for a dummy resistor and wiring harness in the ESM.

Curtain airbag? Are these really offered in other markets? I thought the Lancer only offered chest side bags in the seat.

My parents just bought a Lexus Rx 400h hybrid SUV thing and it has 9 bloody airbags. Like the windows and stuff are covered if you get hit form side and there is a drivers knee airbag so you don't smash up your knees in a head on. kinda crazy, be like rolling around in a bubble :P. And of course they had to get their new car a week after I got my RA, and theirs is an '06, mines 05 (don't know how that works). Well I had a decent car for a week at least!
