Seriously, maybe there's a way your dealer can get it shipped down there and install it... but don't get your hopes too high. It would be really cheap for you though (somewhere around 4000 US$ including shipping I guess)

My dealership says if I got the RRM turbo kit for my OZ Rally and they install it, it will be covered under my warranty.. the only problem is I don't want to pay them 800 bux to have it installed.. I'd rather do it myself. I'm gonna hold off on buying a kit until my warrany expires.

Peterborough Mitsubishi, whom I just called, said they didn't know of one currently in existance, but that he was 'pretty sure' one was being made. Hmmm....go RA aftermarket!

After reading between the lines for a while, it seems like Mitsubishi were in talks with RRM on selling their turbo kit through the dealer network... but that was at least 6 months ago and nothing was ever announced. That either means Mitsubishi wanted too much of a cut or that RRM didn't have the manufacturing output needed to insure a steady supply to the dealers.

RRM has neither denied or confirmed that info... so I wish they do, so we know were this is going. And if there's no deal with RRM, I hope Mitsubishi chooses somebody else, anybody really, to supply us with a nice turbo kit with the option to retain our warranty on the car and the kit.

Note that a higher volume kit would have to sell for less than the actual price for the RRM kit (which can be described as being very high).

Ya, that kit is priced pretty high, but you are left with no other option except trying to fit everything together yourself, which can be a pain if none of the stuff has been tested or logged onto how long it will hold up with your engine. If you think about it what you are doing is paying like 4 grand just for a cheap turbo and a few thin pipes/gaskets. (unless you get injectors and all that good stuff). But I give big props to RRM for providing a proven quality long lasting turbo kit..
Don't everyone flame on me now because I said the "cheap turbo".. I was just comparing it to something of industrial quality. Compared to the turbos that go on some of the diesel engines at my work (power plant), the greddy ones feel like they are just slapped together like a plastic toy. **flame suit on if needed--or this flame suit would really not be necessary if anyone has seen a good quality made turbo**

I for one am not about to flame you for your opinion... it all makes good sense anyway. But I still think that someone could come up with a bit less expensive of a package that would target people looking for a conservative kit, adding something like 60 HP to the car without breaking the bank. A low boost turbo package designed to be installed and forgotten about (as in: no tuning/tweaking on the car every other weekend) shouldn't be as costly to manufacture/sell as the RRM package.

The way I see it, the RRM kit is at the top end of the spectrum. Without going cheap, one would assume there's a market (bigger than RRM's even?) for a product way more accesible. A real bonus would be it's distribution through the dealers network... but that's just wishful thinking on my part (the whole thing I'm afraid).

Thanks workz.. yes, I think the dealership should offer that when you buy your car.. just a low boost application at a medium price (not exceeding $2600 for non-ic.. or an ic kit for $3200). It would give people a nice advantage over just having a stock engine, and still have a warranty. The materials to make a turbo aren't expensive.. mitsu could easily make an aftermarket kit for when you buy the lancer. The reason these kits from companies like RRM and others are so expensive is because they either have to buy the turbo from someone else.. or make their own, which is hard to do in just a small shop. (cost vs. time and amount customers is too high)

I just realized something also: Mitsubishi Motors' parent company sells turbos! I can't see why they wouldn't be able to get those at a very good price...


Anyway, it's a shame that I don't have the knowledge and equipment to build and market such a kit... I think it would be a great product to come out with! Even I would be interested in buying one (after a trip to the bank to get a loan... )!
