turbo kit from the dealer

I've gone to the dealer today because I might purchase a Ralliart.

I love the car.

I've asked if they had performance parts for the Ralliart. They told me that they have a turbo kit from Mitsubishi that fits on the Ralliart for 4000$.

They have also suspension kit from Mitsubishi.

Are you aware of those parts? They told me that if they put the part themselves I don't lose the warranty.

By the way it's a dealer from Canada.

Let me know if you know something about that.

They will check tomorrow with parts guy but they told me they are sure for the turbo kit.

Maybe they mistake that kit from an EVO but they told me no it's for a Ralliart.

there are like 3 dealerships that offer the essential speed turbo kit as a dealer optoins. its not by mitsu and its not worth the $4k, IMHO. save the $4k and get the RRM kit if you want a kit. Gonna have to scrounge a bit more to get it installed, but it seems to be a much better product for the base. Ask Mario on here. he has one of the nicest RAs in existance and started /w the essential speed kit, but had to take it elsewhere to make it work

I will keep you posted tomorrow. My salesman need to talk to the guy's in parts.

He told me they have a turbo kit, suspension kit, intake and exhaust system.

I don't really trusted them but we'll see.

I will give me the price of the parts installed from the dealer and he told me that if they put the parts themselves that I will keep my warranty.

They can put the modification on my loan contract if they want to and finance it with the car at a 1.9 interest.

Really interesting. I'll keep you guy posted. Maybe it's salesman garbage, but it's him that told me this. I've not ask for a turbo.

We will see..

I too was informed a while back that Mitsu has a turbo kit for the RA. The down sides were that it WAS more like $8000-$10000 installed when they told me about it, and the boost psi was kept low (I believe under 8psi). The upside was it is covered by warranty if they install it. The price kept me away. If they are now saying $4000 installed, I would prob go that way, rather then RRM, just to keep my warranty!

Isn't the RRM kit 4500 US$ anyway (so something like 5500$+shipping+inst.)? I mean, if this turbo kit gives you any good power at all, it would seem like it's a bargain... especially if it doesn't void the warranty and is itself under warranty. I wonder if that quote was for the whole deal though. I mean, a turbo also means an ECU, right? Or does the dealer have a new ECU program in hand to be flashed on site? Also, wouldn't the turbo kit require you to upgrade the intake and exhaust too? Logically it should...

BTW: What would keep you from going over 8psi afterwards???

Do a search on the essential speed kit.

There is no retarding of the mivec timing... it's just a turbo kit, none of the electronics fixed to accept the boost.

i would definately be interested if the stealership offers a muffler and lower springs. I would be willing to pay a little extra if I can keep my warranty. I wonder if this is true for the US.

Hmmmm... it's a bit of an incomplete package then. That means you have to get it tuned somewhere else to really acheive anything with it. It might be a bit tricky to find someone reliable to tune our engine...

Then again, it might still end up being cheaper than the RRM kit... and still retain the warranty.

It seems to me like the deciding factor would be the quality of the tuning you can expect from whoever you choose to do that part... and the difference in maximum performance you can expect from both kits.
