like he said, it's not as "smooth" as the <2.5L engines

if i find it, i will post the link, but there was an article explaining in tech detail why >2.5L 4 cylinder engines are hard to perfect

You are correct. The inherent vibrations produced by 4 cylinder engines are magnified as they grow bigger in size. Thankfully, my 2.8 liter has twin balance shafts like Mitsu's 2.4 so the difference is very small, only noticeable as a slight vibration in the steering wheel at idle. Otherwise, its a smooth operator. I was just letting him know that there is a four banger on the market larger then 2.5. Anyone remember the 3.0 liter four cylinder in the Porsche 944? Now that was one large four banger and I think it didn't even have balance shafts. Of course, Porsche has excellent engineering skills.

The 4g69 will base some of its stroke similar to the 4g64 . . . there are some spyder owners getting it near 2.6 liter.

2.6l = starion
3.0l = Porsche 944 (sohc) to 968 (dohc). The motor had a huge bore.

968
bore and stroke: 4.09 X 3.46
redline: about 6700 rpm

Mirage Ls coupe, 4g93
bore and stroke: 3.19 X 3.50
redline: 6500. Fuel cut: 6750

Honda Prelude, H22
bore and stroke: 3.43 X 3.57
redline: rumored at 6800 to 7200 or 7600 rpm (have to confirm it w/ a past 'lude owner of a 99 or 00)

Previous gen SI
bore and stroke: 3.19 X 3.05
redline: stratosphere!

You do know the colorado's motor based it technology from the LS1 motor. GM saved some R&D by cutting the motor in half (principle-wise).

Also, bigger stroke = sacrificing rpm. You don't see a LT1 motor spinning rpms like a B16. Laws of physics, except for the H22 (software can't be the only thing).
